Algorithm, maybe you could try something like this with some specially created, original content geared towards the encoder. I can create something with completely reverb-less vocals, or with specific directions regarding rhythms section, whatever. If you ever find that an interesting idea, let me know ;) | User Comment Submitted by Hydrogen on 6 January 2021 User Comment Submitted by Joe on 28 December 2020
"He ate crashed glass" is perhaps what one could describe the sound as. Those crystal-like tearing, which most has get to know during this years video-conversations, or not. Nice part from that. Impressive as is, the next is of course releasing the editors (like you did with CSAM) so more can try it on. | User Comment Submitted by ChristopherJam on 28 December 2020
Yes, interesting approach, but the vocals really have been slaughtered.
Poor Rick :D | User Comment Submitted by algorithm on 28 December 2020
@copyfault, Yes the preprocessing is pretty important and adjusting the encoded data later may also help. I did also adjust encoder overlap/lookahead and it did improve matters but not as good as what i had hoped. The solution at the moment is really to choose a vocal that has naturally less reverb to it. The reverb content destroys the speech also considering that everything is produced with just 3 sines at 20ms adjustments. Even with de-reverb, the content reproduction is not as good as encoding content that had less reverb to start with The madonna example i posted for example sounds a lot clearer in the speech. | User Comment Submitted by Copyfault on 28 December 2020
Nice piece of compression&audio trickery :)
The idea of separating the voice from the rest of the song sounds promising... but I have to admit I also hear quite some gargling in the voice. Did not delve deeper into the algo, but could applying some kind of frequency filter to the voice's raw data eliminate (or lower) the gargling?
But I really like it with the voice as is! | User Comment Submitted by algorithm on 28 December 2020 User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 27 December 2020
must be a world record, a whole pop song in 50k, the synth sounds very good, the speech has the gargling problem, but I dont mind, makes me smile good old c64 can do this :) | User Comment Submitted by Flotsam on 27 December 2020 User Comment Submitted by Mixer on 27 December 2020 User Comment Submitted by chancer on 27 December 2020
