For those Wine-Users: Needs wine-mono installed, in addition to wine base package

@Marq, thanks very much for testing SPOT in Wine. :) I realize the button names are unconventional. Tooltips may help if you hover over the buttons or the image. Also, there is a detailed "user's guide" in Summaries. :)

It took a while to realize what to click to _load_ a picture :) Based on a quick test seems to run ok under Wine too.

@Everyone, thanks! Hope you guys find it useful. :)
@Burglar, 0.7-dev sounds promising, good progress! :)
@Wil, great idea for a v1.1 release: select output background color(s). What image did you use BTW that resulted in multiple outputs?

Very nice tool, 10/10. The achieved compression is awesome! I like especially the command line interface. The automatic generation of the 16 possible background colors was a bit troublesome for me, I used it with a script deleting the unwanted versions.

We used an early version of this tool on the end part of Memento Mori - the big long sideborder bitmap scroller. Without it, I doubt we could’ve managed it - there are several parts in the bitmap where we’re to the wire with data streaming.

Excellent work getting this to a shippable state, Sparta :-) ... now let’s see if anyone else can beat this ;-)

ah found em, results with unreleased png2prg 0.7-dev:

floris: 7458 bytes
mermaid: 5408 bytes
short curcuit: 6163 bytes
total: 19029 bytes

oh noes, you are still beating my tool /o\ ;)

@sparta, a new version of png2prg will be released in a the next couple of weeks, will be interesting to see how the different tools compare then.
the old png2prg does nothing to optimize, but the new one... :)

PS: do you have the pngs used for the benchmark for me? I could run a quick test
