Trivia Info

Infocom wanted to distribute Zork II on tape to extend sales to those not owning drives. They had already done the exact same thing with the first Zork game, cutting it down and altering it to fit in one load, entitling it Mini-Zork. So, in the same fashion they went to work on Mini-Zork II, but for unknown reasons (likely memory issues) the project was abandoned close to completion, and the game ended up shelved. When the Infocom sourcecode library leaked out in the wild not long ago, the remains of Mini-Zork II was discovered amongst other scattered remains of abandoned projects.
There are many differences in Mini-Zork II compared to the disk version. The map has been altered quite a bit, some of the more annoying puzzles have been simplified, texts have been rewritten and the wizard now has a more limited number of spells in his possesion. Note that storing and retrieving a savegame still requires a diskdrive, and restart is not supported. These and other differences means it is not possible to solve the game consulting any old Zork II solution posted on the internet, at least not without having a major hassle on your hands. So, we include both a new solution and a handy map of the altered world that lays before you to explore!
