@DnP Oh, it's a good one. Congrats for that. Then my question is already answered (whether it's possible to play Tetris with only C64 sprites).

miniTETRIS is a working sprite only tertis :) With intro and so one... (done just for fun, not for spr only compo)

@Didi: I left out one rotate direction to keep both drops with Joystick.
Like I played it on Gameboy 33 years ago with using one rotate only.

Nice Game.

Prayers for joystick control were heard: SPRITEtris +1DJ
But joystick just has too less directions to cover all controls, so it's a bit limited.

@TheRyk Absolutely, you've hit the nail on the head! This quirky little 'feature' is all thanks to the multicolor mode I used, where a pixel struts around like it owns the place at a 2x1 ratio.

definetely fun :)

however, once you found how to flip, it's quite strange to notice that due to somewhat inconsistent stretching on X/Y axis (probably in MC mode and thus already double wide pixels) tiles look quite odd after flip.

you know what I'm sayin?!

@Wile Coyote

Mastering keyboard controls is always an exciting part of the gaming adventure, isn't it? Unfortunately, a joystick wasn't on the menu for SPRITEtris as we needed a full six-key setup to capture the essence of the game. But hey, who doesn't love a bit of finger gymnastics now and then? 馃槃 Thanks heaps for your feedback!

I struggled with the keyboard controls.
Joystick would have been better.
The concept of the play area constantly moving fails to work..
Thumbs Up for entering the compo ^_^

If you're wondering whether it's possible to play Tetris with only C64 sprites, fear not! I'm here to squash those doubts like a level 10 Tetris block. SPRITEtris, crafted for the fabulous Only Sprites Compo 2023, is the answer to your pixelated prayers. But hey, if you've just finished a feast, maybe give it a couple of hours before diving in. Trust me, your belly will thank you!
