Aleksi, I figured out what was wrong--this is brilliant. I'm getting sounds I thought were impossible from my trusty C64. If you decide to update, volume envelope (even just overall) would be lovely!

Finally getting around to trying this out... it's great! Lovely Polly Tracker-style native C64 cosiness, but with seriously decent sound quality. 100% going to use this for a release. Thank you, Aleksi! :)

@DeeKey There's sample memory for 3 seconds at 16152 Hz (D-2) or 6 seconds at 8076 Hz (D-1). Unfortunately, filter is not available, since it uses the Mahoney DAC tables / $D418 output.

Sample rate could be raised to 17285 Hz (57 cycles) by removing STA $D020, but 16 is a nice number and the 1 rasterline stripes give a "feel" of high quality audio :)

@Amoeba :D

10/10! What is funny is that I was going to ask you Aleksi @ Zoo if such a thing could be done.. Well you did it already.

This is insane!... Wow! 16kHz/8bit/3chan is not too far from Amiga (OCS/Paula) 28kHz/8bit/4chan!...
Since this is probably using waveform samples: Is filter stuff possible? How many seconds of samples can be loaded until memory is full?

Quantum Soundtracker is a 3-channel sample-based tracker with 16 kHz mixing rate and internal 8-bit resolution. The editor loads signed 8-bit mono raw samples. Output resolution is ~6.5 bits on a stock machine.
