Can confirm what e5frog found. Located ProjectOne.ini in the c:\Program Files (x86)\Project_One directory. Renamed the file to ProjectOne.bak. ProjectOne 0.5 now starts fine without the error. I am using Windows 7 64 bit.

Have it working on Wine. Imports works Ok.
@DCMP: Make sure to install gdiplus from winetricks.

Doesn't start: Run-time Error '13': Type mismatch, I'm running Win XP SP3.
Turns out it was the ini file from v0.6 that caused it...

One bug to be mentioned if it wasn't already is the fourth color replacement bug. For example you can be working on an image and all of a sudden, the background color (any choice) is acting as if the colors are up in the charblock and that this has to replace whatever pixel you happened to press upon. Tip of advice, save often and if it does occur, which it will several times, undo, save and reload your image and the bloody bug is gone for the moment...
I was too lazy not to check if 0.6 fixed this; as it doesn't support .png I reverted to this version quickly.

Hi Oswald, i just wanted to know if there's an improved version of this tool? I can donate some dev funds (beer money!) if that will help?

That will definitely help! Just donate the beer to me and I promise I'll harass Oswald till he updates the editor. Deal?

I really like this editor. Runs nicely (didn't have many crashes and I save very often), easy to use and just does its job. :)

As others asked before, I'd like to know if there is an improved version of it. I would surely support its development with a donation too.

@Jailbird + others... : I found the bug in the ProjectOne.ini file (located in the same directory as Project One) where in [Form2] the left was way -5xxx something. I changed it back to "0" and both the preview window and palette window reappered.

And yeah... no need for a preview window when the whole editor is one gigantic "preview" window :)
User Comment
Submitted by jailbird on 19 March 2008
Ed: yep I already mentioned that one to Oswald. As the palette window is automatically snapped to the bottom of the preview window, it follows the scaling of the preview window. But why would you need to zoom the preview window to such measures anyway? :)

A quick solution: klick on the preview window and scroll back with the mousewheel. It will zoom out the window and bring back the palette.

Yes! this is one bastard editor.. but I just found a new bug, beside the copy bug :(

The Palette window sometimes fall outside the window and is impossible to retrieve back.. Some how if one toggles back and forth with the preview window, the palette windows finds it way back...

Love this bastard!! I wish it had layer possibilities, i.e. I've already tried to fix some pic.
in a range of colors (darker/lighter), animation etc not useing CENIMATE to do the final work.
A better fill-function, replace colors, invert, lines, circles, mirrors and so on.

Request :

i'd really love p-one to be able to handle
2 screens at a time and to be able to copy selected parts
between both (just like with amica paint) also a function to draw lines / boxes would be great.

I got it to work in wine at first glance, but it seems to crash when importing graphics with a dll error and when drawing, you can only see the pixels on the overview, not under the cursor.
Too bad..

Okay, Project One WORKS in Windows Vista!

The problem, in my case, was that v0.5 was installed in a directory with a previous version of Project One (with obsolete DLL's).

Message to all: do an install in a CLEAN directory!

I think the graphics engine of Vista is just too lame for 8 bit graphics.

I just found out that P1 doesn't work in Windows Vista (nor in compatability modes).
I hope that Oswald can fix this soon.

@BastetFurry: There are quite a lot more gimp-plugins for 64-graphics than just Koala... Check out all the different formats gimp-cbmplugs provides. =)

drazlace normally uses only one screen mem, altho due to the interlacing it is possible to use 2 different screens in the 2 banks. drazlace special does this.

p1 will be always be slow, as VB is terribly slow sadly.

I've been playing with P1 a bit, and it's really terribly useful to me (although I still can't pixel for shit, but lets ignore that - pixelling on a tablet pc is fun :))

one odd problem though, on my 1.7ghz pentium m system, freehand drawing lags massivly. It's really quite disconcerting... le sigh.

Workstages can be faked easy enough and it happened quite a bit in the Amiga scene years ago afaik.
User Comment
Submitted by jailbird on 8 October 2006
Well, I told Oswald that we need only two functions in the editor: choose color and put pixel (à la Gunpaint), but he implemented that damn converter after all. :)
All parties should have a workstage rule and problem solved. Wiring dismissed.

Style: if you mean the the preview window, just click on it and use the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom in/out. Same goes for the zoom window

ps. Oswald, any chance you can add a double/quad size option on the picture window? On my 1920x1200 monitor its tiny :)

No no, we should not start a platform fight here. Blah blah.. and another release is ruined :/. Show some respect to Oswald and keep all the bullshit out of his release!! That goes for all serious releases here on csdb btw.

@Oswald: Hmm...You're right, but notice that while you can add that color in FLIGraph as a normal pixel, you cannot add it in P1 until replacing another one, just look again at those links i sent and try paint the same char i did in FLIGraph into ProjectOne. I noticed that when i start fill the char with yellow color as first it works ok, but always when try like i reported, i cannot put that yellow pixel at all or duble it by replacing blue.

@Jak T Rip: There were some other convinient tools priori. Lets just take Thimantes for example.

Still none of them is perfect and I see some benefits from using both of them for specific tasks.

Wow!! Sounds like it would really be the first convenient cross-gfx tool for not only some simple fullscreen formats.
I'll have a look at it soon, if it is what I hope, you'll surely receave a bug&wish-list... THANK YOU, Oswald!
And who did this great pic on the screenshot..?

I'm so glad it's finally released! And it's rock steady now, I love you Oswald!

P1 is for me the most suitable tool for handy, pure, traditional, dot-by-dot pixelling and has much closer resemblence to Amiga/C64 painting programs than any other PC gfx-titbit I've ever tried. I never imagined that P1 will progress so far, now it has way more that a craftman dealing with pixels would ever need. so Oswald please stop with adding features and continue with coding demos, now! :)

However, a default shortcut for Save (CTRL+S) and Undo (CTRL+Z) would be great!
