Apparently VICE 2.1.10 in PAL mode is "REAL MACHINE, OMG!", in NTSC mode is "EVIL HOXS" and in Old NTSC mode spasmatically flickers between "EVIL HOXS" and "REAL MACHINE" on each frame. Gee, I had no idea. | User Comment Submitted by Freddie on 22 May 2008
Here it detects Vice 1.22 perfectly. | User Comment Submitted by AlexC on 19 May 2008
On my C64C with MMCReplay it detected "evil hoxs with no action replay emulation ever".
On my stock 128D it also detects evil emulator ;) | User Comment Submitted by tlr on 16 May 2008
The C64DTV is detected as Hoxs. | User Comment Submitted by Burglar on 15 May 2008
pretty damn cool, even though it's not calibrated properly yet, this type of code is very interesting for emucoders. | User Comment Submitted by cadaver on 14 May 2008
On a C64C with Action Replay (1541ultimate actually) active, flickered between real machine & Hoxs, until settled for the real machine :) | User Comment Submitted by spider-j on 14 May 2008
Tested for fun:
CCS 3.0 Beta 1.7: ???????????Y EMULATOR EVER!
CCS 3.4: Real Machine...
damn, fucking ccs is more real than my c64 ;)
that's probably "virtual reality" in perfection *lol*

I'm not so sure it is useless. But the real question is:
What does it actually measure?
It looks quite different on my VICE. I get two sprites some orange shit in the upper field and no text at all, just some garbled "========================"
in the lower field.

In VicePlus 1.22.8 it
states:
>C:11d3 h noes! this be evil hoxs with no action replay emulation ever!
And the BELOVED ec64 is NOT detected as emu!
| User Comment Submitted by spider-j on 14 May 2008
i also get "oh noes! this be evil hoxs..." on real c64. | User Comment Submitted by Mace on 14 May 2008
For the record:
HOXS 1.0.5.16: detected as real machine
WinVICE 1.22 d.d. Aug. 2007: detected as real machine | User Comment Submitted by The Phantom on 14 May 2008
I get "Oh Noes! This be evil hoxs with no action replay emulation ever!".. Using a snapshot v5 cart image, with an unreleased version of vice (ntsc side borders fully working). Pretty wild stuff! | User Comment Submitted by assiduous on 13 May 2008
hmmmm its not as useless as it seemed on the first look. the prog is under investigation,Ive changed my vote too | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 13 May 2008
in viceplus 1.1 it says "omg hoxs" =D | User Comment Submitted by WVL on 13 May 2008
I didnt test 1.22.8 ofcourse :)
Anyway, the screen of your screendump (is it really called that) just looks wrong, so it's easy to detect 1.22.8 also.
Oh, and it detects my CMOS 6569 as a real VIC.. I wonder if NMOS VICs behave differently? That would be majorly annoying :(

It detected Vice 1.22 & 1.19 here. | User Comment Submitted by WVL on 13 May 2008
What vice is that?
It fails on the V1.22 I have here. | User Comment Submitted by assiduous on 13 May 2008
this detector is useless. vice returns "OMG real machine" while both Hoxs64 and my C64 say that its Hoxs. WTF ?
bonus point for a try though |
