Apparently VICE 2.1.10 in PAL mode is "REAL MACHINE, OMG!", in NTSC mode is "EVIL HOXS" and in Old NTSC mode spasmatically flickers between "EVIL HOXS" and "REAL MACHINE" on each frame. Gee, I had no idea.

Here it detects Vice 1.22 perfectly.

On my C64C with MMCReplay it detected "evil hoxs with no action replay emulation ever".

On my stock 128D it also detects evil emulator ;)

pretty damn cool, even though it's not calibrated properly yet, this type of code is very interesting for emucoders.

On a C64C with Action Replay (1541ultimate actually) active, flickered between real machine & Hoxs, until settled for the real machine :)

Tested for fun:

CCS 3.0 Beta 1.7: ???????????Y EMULATOR EVER!
CCS 3.4: Real Machine...

damn, fucking ccs is more real than my c64 ;)
that's probably "virtual reality" in perfection *lol*

I'm not so sure it is useless. But the real question is:
What does it actually measure?

It looks quite different on my VICE. I get two sprites some orange shit in the upper field and no text at all, just some garbled "========================"
in the lower field.

In VicePlus 1.22.8 it
states:
>C:11d3 h noes! this be evil hoxs with no action replay emulation ever!

And the BELOVED ec64 is NOT detected as emu!

I get "Oh Noes! This be evil hoxs with no action replay emulation ever!".. Using a snapshot v5 cart image, with an unreleased version of vice (ntsc side borders fully working). Pretty wild stuff!

I didnt test 1.22.8 ofcourse :)

Anyway, the screen of your screendump (is it really called that) just looks wrong, so it's easy to detect 1.22.8 also.

Oh, and it detects my CMOS 6569 as a real VIC.. I wonder if NMOS VICs behave differently? That would be majorly annoying :(

this detector is useless. vice returns "OMG real machine" while both Hoxs64 and my C64 say that its Hoxs. WTF ?

bonus point for a try though
