Trivia :
TLDR: I had minimal scene presence back in the day but was a heavy swapper where I very early on began to get the sense of what releases were more rare than others. I was a bit of a student and fan of the scene and went as far as taking notes, etc. I was always on the lookout for the obscure and still am. These days I preserve and catalog the lost and unusual (and usually North American) and hope that it serves as giving back in some way to people that gave me a lot.

Former Ohio Valley, USA trader, distributor, courier, swapper and had membership in a few of the very few WV-based cracking groups.

When I first got my C64 I didnt know anything about copying and I spent most of my time typing in programs from magazines and borrowing from the library. Shortly I discovered that I could SAVE the basic programs that I was loading from the public domain disks I was borrowing. This was like Paul seeing the light, and I copied every disk from every library in the area. Soon after I discovered Fast Hack'em and local, older college kids with warez collections.

Then my C64 life changed again in 86 when I met "GCB", a mega-swapper from Pittsburgh who called his "backup" software company UltraSoft. In 86 he already had a collection of thousands of disks. There were probably only around 100 disks worth of stuff that was traded around my home town, so his collection was a shock. I now knew how much was out there. When I met him again in 89 he knew someone in every group that I'd ever heard of and his disk collection was in 5 figures. I always set out to out-do GCB and let's just say I'm still trying.

My database entries are mostly US-based and come from my original collection, unless otherwise noted, which was built from 85 to 90 with scattered additions throughout the 90s. It has seen four states, been given away by my brother, retrieved from a dead guy's apartment and fell victim to a flood.

I've also posted entries from Demonger box 11 while searching for western OH (Cincinatti area) wares and have found and posted stuff I've been missing from The Hood Works , The Kender Crew and The Cool Cats . There are many other obscure North American finds from this collection but unfortunately they are nearly all corrupt. Not that I'm complaining! Working with these disks has been a pleasure and a privilege and everyone involved in bringing those disks to scenebase does amazing work and I thank you!

I am mostly interested in North American releases from 83 - 90 and I am very, very interested in disks from Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia because I have lost a lot of cool local stuff, including stuff made by people who are now deceased, that I would very much like to find.

Some of these local groups with releases I'm looking for:

West Virginia: UltraSoft Pirating Inc. - The G-Force - The Osium Crew - and any WV groups I dont know about.

Western Pennsylvania: Radiation Area - Desired Cracking Force - Federal Cracking Crew - The Foundation League - Ice Pirates Inc. - The Importing Homeboyz

Ohio: The Kender Crew - The Hood Works - The Cool Cats - Night Shift Rippers - Pirates Inc. - The Bones Brigade - The Federation - Tron-Soft Software

General obscure (or not) North American groups with several missing releases: Trainers 'R Us, Digital Conclusion Association, Mass Consumption, Napalm, Silicon Software Company, The Elite Circle, 215, The Organized Professional Pirating Service, The Alliance, The Archives Network, Thee Supreme Council, The Bandit, The Notorious Importers, Natas, East Coast Importers, The Criminal Connection, Sin Badd Software, Commodore Pirating Artists, World Pirating League.

One-hit-wonder North American groups, did they release anything else?: Apple Commodore Connection, Dead on Arrival, Sub Tropical Organization of Pirates, Yesterday's Tomorrow, The Blasting Concept, Aleeda, Comstock Cracking Crew, MightySoft Inc., Destiny, GDI, Plague, Magic American Distributors, Future Crackers of America, The Opposing Force, The Zillaworks

North American groups with NO releases found yet: Los Amigos, Triangle, In Full Control

Unfortunately North American collections in general are scarce, which is why there are so many missing US and Canadian scene releases, even from major groups, which is probably why you're looking at this profile page right now. If you have such a collection, please consider transferring yours ASAP. Rest assured that I'm doing my part.
