Event id #2262 : CSDb Science Fiction Graphics Competition

An idea that I had in mind for a while...

Here are the rules:

-Topic should be something utopical; as long as it is not something that has already happenend (e.g. Apollo 11), the choice is yours (e.g. one could depict the upcoming landing of Philae on comet Tschurjumov-Gerasimenko)
-Any graphics mode allowed
-Multiscreen
-Animations allowed
-Coops allowed
-Max. 2 entries per graphician (unless in a coop)
-Scrollers are not allowed, unless they are integrated in the picture (e.g. a scrolling message on a cockpit display)
-3 valid workstages must be provided.

Releases to be uploaded here on the fly.
Voting will be by PM to me, for 2 weeks from October 2nd on. ALL entries must be judged from 1 to 10, otherwise the vote will not be valid.

Questions, comments, suggestions are welcome!
And now: GO!!! :-)
Cheers,

Bugjam

Ah, the prices: 1st place will get a complete C64 setup, 2nd and third can choose between either a 1541 or a C64. Additionally, first 3 places can pick 3 original games from my double list; 4 and 5 can pick 2, and the rest (yes, everyone gets something! :-) can pick one. Picking from the list will be in order of result, so last place picks last.
There are also a lot of (mostly German) magazines and books, 1530s and other stuff - so I am flexible with the rewards. :-)

:-P OK, maybe I should add that you don't _have_ to claim your price, if you are content with the fame alone. :)

Help me understand:
- multiscreen yes
- scrolling no

So how may multi screens be connected then?
Any other way? Slideshow?

Or was that scrolling ban only on scrollTEXTs?

WVL hits the spot. :-)
@ZeSmasher: real depictions, no. Also showing just Earth as a sphere does not count, although some people still believe it's a disc. ;-) Of course you could do something moonlanding-themed: e.g. Taikonauts visiting the historical Apollo 11 site. :-)

Bugger, Shine gets me into trouble by having entered 4 great pieces already. Now the rule was it should be max 2 entries per author - I would not mind dropping that rule, but to be fair, I would like to have the opinion of others, especially the other participants. What do you think - should we stick to the rule, and Shine has to chose 2 entries for the actual compo, or do away with the rule?

No problem at all! Please let us know what your decision is. ;)

It depends on how much Hardware & C64 Stuff you have to get rid off - I remember you that you said "Everyone gets a Prize" so if you drop the rule, many more entries will follow, and I guess you then cannot prepare a prize for everyone, should have been better to announce prizes for the first three places, but maybe you're having lots and lots of stuff you want to loose.. even, remember also that it will cost you alot of money, if you drop the rule, to post the packages even when there are coming 20-30 new releases to it.. ;)

The first thought is the right one.

He has to chose.

Anything else would be unfair - the next one would like to kill another rule.

OK, then Shine, please chose 2 entries to stay in the compo; the others can still stay in the event as "released outside of compo". Cheers!

Alright folks, so the compo is closed, and voting is open!
As described, PM to me with votes for ALL entries from 1 to 10; exception: you may write a 0 to your own entries, if you don't want to judge your own work.
Voting will close on October 15th at midnight CET.
Cheers,

Bugjam

Everyone already voted. But on csdb. ;) That is why csdb might not be the best place for compos - if you want "external" votes, that is.

If you've got too few "real" votes, maybe weigh in the csdb-votes too? Just a suggestion

Results are out, check the event entry.

CONGRATULATIONS to hedning & Mermaid for taking the sweet spot! And of course also to all the others.

Thanks a lot for competing, it has been really a great experience. A lot of creativity and skill was shown.

Now everybody get in touch to get their prices! :-)
Cheers!

It's been 2 years already... What I have learnt from this compo is that it is too difficult to let people choose their prices in order of results. Someone who does not answer can delay things too long... In any case, the first couple of places received their prices; if any of the participants still wants to choose an original from my list, they are very welcome to get in touch - I don't want to break my promise, that all participants would get something. So pls feel free to drop me a PM or email!
And thanks agin to all the participants, I think it was great - I do have another compo idea, but that will have to wait until after X. :-)
