Release id #163712 : MGM Lion

If a PAL demo is split into a separate demo for NTSC, and only distributed in the USA as the split demo, does it count as a separate release?

Are you so stuck on being right that you have to ignore the fact that this release was widely distributed in NTSC land?

i totally acknowledge that part of this demo was widely distributed in NTSC land. even if that might just be an anecdote.

however, it still doesnt make a single part of a certain demo a seperate release.

I found a Jay Campey in Tennessee on Facebook. I've reached out to him to see if I got the right guy. I hope to hear back soon.

What exactly constitutes a release in your mind?

I can't believe you're still discussing this King Durin.
If I make a 5 parts for my megademo and release it as such.. "Golara's greatest hits" and then someone rips one of the parts and uploads it it doesn't make a new demo, a new release. What you say about this part being so super popular in USA deserves a trivia comment on the page of the original demo at best.

Now the release exists, it's released in 2018 by king durin and lame as you want but it stays, it's even NTSC "fixed" because it's simply looping forever in PAL. Go ahead, nothing more to see here.

Turns out the guy on facebook is indeed the actual Jay Campey. We had a great chat about the party and he remembers me from his BBS. He even has the LU archives (in DNP format) from his BBS and passed them along to me (unfortunately he sold the Lt. Kernal earlier this year). He had not visited CSDb before so I told him to check it out and I entered his BBS and his scener info on here while I was chatting with him. Turns out the party was in 1993, not 1990, so I was in my second try at college, and it was mostly alcohol powered, so my memory is a bit fuzzy from those years, but he did say that after he got drunk that he was giving demos of the bbs and making disks for people. It was the only party he had run and it was specifically put together to get one of his users over there so he could hit on her. Well, he succeeded and they got married.

However, I haven't been able to find this demo in his DNP files, but I haven't opened them all and run them yet. I'm going to spend the next few days cataloging those archives and see what all might be missing here. If I don't find that demo I have a suspicion of where I might have gotten it from, so I'll try to get ahold of that sysop and see if he has anything archived.

I found the demo from his BBS. It was on his "pr0n" download partition, not his demos partition. It's filename is "mgm lion -dm"

So, the question is what to do with it? Do you guys want it uploaded to the entry for original demo, or added to the entry I created, or do nothing at all with it?

I found a lot of imports that weren't on here yet. Uploaded them. Tried to decipher as much of the text as I could to get the credits, but some of the intros were really bad with text you couldn't read.
