Source code paragraph for tools/demos/etc entries

Hello fellow minded people,

we discussed recently in #c-64 about source codes. There are various productions (especially some tools), where sources are available.

I thought CSDb could add an optional(!) paragraph for products, where source codes are available. Just below / above the Download-section.

Or perhaps a link to Codebase64, where we could enter the source code entries. I don't think we need a category for source codes themselves here.

What do you think?

It doesn't exist any programming secrets nowadays anymore.
I think such option is pretty useless.

Codebase covers everything a beginner needs to know.
Average programmers do ask friends or in forums (like Lemon64, Forum64, CSDB Forum...) and experienced programmers... well, they just don't need to ask! ;)

IMHO it is a good idea. Always nice when one can borrow someone elses brains.

But, how to organise it? It cannot be format specific as the project formats vary. Would it be more like a collection of zipfiles? or a git/svn? or is the plan to show code as text?

If i want to add sourcecode i simply release a .zip file that includes it all. So where's the problem?
Also experienced programmers exchange each other and ask for improvements and hints, so don't worry :-)

linking to codebase64 already possible, as is sourcecode uploading.

It is indeed no problem uploading source code here, but it sure wouldn't hurt to make it easier to find releases that have source code included, or make that fact more visible on the release page.

Also, claiming that experienced programmers don't need to ask other programmers about stuff shows that you're most likely not an experienced programmer, sorry.

tagging could solve this too ;) indeed, there's no programmer who doesnt ask, but you missed the winky smiley.

(Sorry for dropping this topic into the Forum and going away for a few days.)

That's what I mean.
It's basically just about search engine improvement.
Uploading is not the problem, just tagging it.

Would be a nice option, easy to implement (one or two database fields should suffice) and would make CSDb a happier, mellower place :P
