Release id #65161 : Musax #34

I thought we've recently settled that releases like these shouldn't be filed under "C64 Music" but rather as "C64 One File Demos"? Violator, would you be so kind?

Yeah, well, I wrote this from work. And besides, I wanted to bring the whole topic to public attention, there can be confusion sometimes.

I have to disagree.

The program is just a tune with a logo and some text, released clearly as a rip.

There is no 'demo' anywhere to be seen in this.

"c64 music" is reserved for standalone music releases which were made by the original authors. "music rips" are demos, small ones indeed. (if "just a tune with a logo and some text" wouldnt qualify as demo... then most of the stuff from 80s wouldnt qualify as such either =P)

Should we invent a new category "music rip" for this?

Ok Groepaz, I understand.
Then I think Steppe's suggestion is valid.

i dont like the idea of adding yet another cathegory at all, imho we already have way too much of them. especially when it comes to music- and graphic- rips vs demos the line is very blurred, and we'd find ourselves discussing over and over if a certain release is the one or the other. afterall, the demo scene pretty much started with crackers doing "rips" and releasing them as standalone "demos".

to pull a famous example, what's Game Music I ? music rip or demo ? and why ?

I'm convinced, you're right.
