Hires overlay sprite editor?
Hi all,
any recommendations for a hires overlay sprite editor, that ideally shows 2 or 3 sprites next to each other?
Thanks!

I think there's some talk about this on lemon too? If you can't find anything suitable maybe just doing them in photoshop with layers so you can draw then output 2 bitmaps (one mc, one hires), then a simple bitmap to sprite grabber to convert at the end. Only problem is I'm not sure PS is the greatest for doing the double pixel stuff (don't think there's any 2:1 grid) but maybe someone has some tips on that. |

Hires on Multi Sprite Editor V1.0 is a pretty good one. |

I can't resist recommending the No. #1 Hires sprite overlay editor on the C-64 platform:
MSL Editor
Cheers!

I've got a little tool you might wish to try if you feel like working in a regular bitmap editor.
Basically you feed it a sprite sheet in BMP format and it spits out a binary file along with some debugging bitmaps to show you the resulting layers and highlight any impossible colour choices. Oh, and you have to fill in the desired palette in the border of each sprite.

well u can make photoshop do 2:1 drawing by forcing its pixel aspect ratio on the CS versions. but it wont help because then u can't do a 1:1 layer in the same document.
so for christ sake somebody do a pc one :)

Timanthes lets you set layers to different types, so you can create one layer for multicolour sprites, then another on top for hires sprites. It will also manage your colour usage, has options for animation and you can change the canvas size to suit how ever many sprites you're working with.
Not sure how it exports the data back to c64 formats as I've only ever used it for bitmaps. |
