editor with digipossibilities

Is there a sideditor available that can handle digis and standard sid capabilities??
I'm not talking about Rukmonitor or a digi only editor like banana soft's funky drummer, but a more recent editor that can deal with digis, some way or another.. When reading the sdi 1.8 manual it states something about nmi digis, but it doesnt popup an editor for it.

Yes, SDI has a seperate editor when dealing with digis.
Its designed to playback 4bit digis.

* Player uses NMI as playback for the digis.
* 15 Digi Volume settings
* 15 Digi Release settings (volume fade out)
* Digi Vibrato
* And you can mix-digis into one (ie. Kick+Bass)

I dont remember all details at the moment,
but it's not released, yet..

JCH made a version of the v20 newplayer that could handle digis. I dont think he included it with his official release, but it exists. There was however no packer for it and it was quite a hog on the rasterusage. I think the digi-editor/player was just a test that Jens did because digis were so popular at the time. I still have the digiplayer somewhere on a disk along with some samples, but still no cable to transfer the files...

I remember the one tune JCH did, used in a demo by Pretzel Logic if I remember correctly. It sounded pretty good.

The Digi Organizer is a handy tool, I tried it a bit, but it seems to play with the volume alot, blurring the original sid thats underneath the digis. Maybe it needs a different sidroutine than Goattracker? If samplerate isnt too high, the Digi Organizer module and a Goaty sid do not use much processortime (7 chars)

Maybe someone knows how I can convert an existing 8 or 16 bit sample to a 4 bit (or less, dunno exactly) sample. Cooledit cannot save raw data, its always compressed some way or another, Wav, Iff or any datatype I choose to save.

I remember someone who used GT with Digiorganizer NOPed out the $d418 stuff from the playroutine before loading into Digiorganizer.

I have a sampleconverter written by Reiter/Apidya. However, I doubt if it can be found on the net - Hein, if you think it will be of use for you, mail me.

Hein : digi organizer plays samples using NMI in da background, it uses raster IRQ only to update it's playroutine so cpu usage may be significantly higher you might think.

Randall: Reiter even sent me source code of his converter but due to lazyness (Again hehehe) I haven't done anything on it , first step would be to compile it using freepascal and make win32/dos/linux/[whatver else freepascal supports... amiga 68k?] binary with true commandline support (IMO).

Jammer is experineced with digi organizer and GT... he used special combinations of filter (Just those Jeroen Tel used with digis if I remeber right what Jammer told me) to get better overall quality. ;-) that should be hintful :P

A while ago I did a smaple-converter in Java, just to get a little Java-practice. It did not change the frequency of the wav and created a little unusual format in 4Bit ($00 => end of sample). It worked well enough to make the C64 fart :-)

Thanks for the tips n tricks.. I'm only trying out some things, if Cadavers tip works out fine, I'm quite pleased for starters..
