What kinda player do you expect/demand that these sfx are made in ?

Most editors are not designed to play sfx while a tune is playing.

Im sure i can do sfx, but if you need custom code, then contact Geir Tjelta. It takes him only a night to code an entire new music player :D

GRG & Jeff pops to my mind, they are very good at composing / coding / sfx.

Doesn't really matter which player, that can be altered to store to RAM instead of SID and then the fx code can copy that to SID and miss whichever channel it wants to steal for sound.

I'd started coding an fx player myself but it's been 10 years since I looked at any SID stuff and when we thought Richard might do the Taipan fx as well as the music I stopped working on it. I suppose I can pick it up again but I'm no sound designer which is the real problem ;) Need someone who can listen to a sound or look at a waveform and say, "yeah, 2 frames of square and one of noise and this adsr.."

If anyone wants to have a crack at this without sticking their neck out on here, we need for Taipan.

1. Cannon boom
2. incoming shell whistle
3. "scoooooooshhhhhhhhhh" noise for a missed shell hitting the water.
4. boom/bang explosion for a cannon hit
5. "ching" noise like coins

for the fighting effects load beachhead 1 and play that. all the effects we want are in the ship bits of that :)

ok, noob question Steve: can i use more than 1 voices for the effects ?

its going in the right direction here, but i can greatly enhance the explosion sound by using 2 voices.

Yeah, try it with 2 voices. It's going to be interrupting the music anyway, may as well let it steal another voice.

Sounding ok so far though :)
