H3LP! Searching for Pr3s3rv3rs :-)

Hi,

Some time ago i coded a tool which i named Elaine. It's a module in Assembly64 which some of you might already be using.

The thing about Elaine, is that she holds a quite nice database of what's preserved and not. This is done by keeping 8 md5-checksums on each prg that exists (indexed brutally :-) ). This makes it extremely easy for you guys who have a collection of d64's at home which is not stored somewhere futureproof.

Elaine offers you the possibility to choose a folder where you have your d64's, and scan them through against the database, instantly highlighting the prg's that are not currently on CSDB, Gamebase, c64com (and a few others).

You can use the tool to just check your files and deal with the uploads yourself, or you can also upload the findings into a staging-area of Elaine....Which brings me to the subject :-)

At first, i was abit unsure if this actually was going to be used, but it turns out that it was! Right now there are approx 55.000(!) d64's which holds some kind of unpreserved content on each entry. Some of them are freezeversions, others non-scene content..I think you get it!

We're right a few persons working on this pile, but that's not enough.

So i reach out to all people who are used to uploading content to csdb, and asking if you would like to help out...When you have the time :-)
Please PM me here or on facebook if so!

Since the files are public property, you are free to do whatever you want with them...BUT: The minimum effort is that the findings end up at CSDB!

I attached a few photos which describes the workflow here:

Cheers,
freabe

I can recommend this tool. I started using it some months ago and it helps finding releases en masse! Try it!

You still have to contact Scooby to be part of the preservation gang.
