.T64 creator tool for windows
Hello,
Just out of curiosity, is there a .T64 creator tool for Win32/DOS platform? I'm not too worried and will still use the native c64 versions if there isn't one available, but it would make life easier if there is one existing. Links would be really appreciative.
Cheers in advance. |

That's just it - T64 is not capable of preserving a tape loader. The format for that is .TAP.

T64 not the same as TAP? WHT, why even have a T64 then. VICE peeps should better make the T64 act as TAP and use TAP extension only for legacy support..
Why else use T64 lol.. You absolutely sure bout this? |

For varoius reasons there actually exists many formats,
Peter tries to document them all, check his list:
http://ist.uwaterloo.ca/~schepers/formats.html
TAP can hold the true bit-stream and can hold the protections
that are on the original tapes. T64 can not!
I use T64 format to preserve entire turbo/data tapes, which
is the only thing it should be used for.

T64 is an old legacy format created for the C64S emulator, released in 1993. Renaming file format extensions after the fact is not possible - how do you suppose we'd go about renaming every .T64 and .TAP file on every web site and every hard drive in the world?

I've found them quite handy with onefilers on MMC64, thank you. They preserve the original filename unlike PRG, and use less space than D64.
I don't consider them tape images, they are file containers.

Oh well, I guess the found <press space> and loading part are a bit iritating. Thats why i put single files preferable in a gunzipped d64 (.D6Z or .D64.GZ). Only disadvantade is apps like dirmaster/style can't handle zipped files :)
Thanks anyway for the info. |

for single files the pc64 P00 file format makes a lot more sense :) |

Not really as it doesnt preserve the original filename of a file. This can also be usefull to compare it to other D64 files :) (Or does it?) |
