From the Ashes   (FTA)

Founded by :
Burning Horizon, The Diskmaster & The Firestalker in June 1989

Group Type :
Demo Group

Base Country :
United States

Website :
http://www.BurningHorizon.com

Trivia :
FTA had a long "war" with FOE, but BHZ Wrong Way and Phantom made amends and BHZ was a cosysop on Eternal Meltdown for a long while in the mid 90's.

FTA's most significant contribution has been utilities. The character set editor "Template Magic" is among the most flexible and user-friendly large-font tools ever devised for the C64. FTA also released three intro makers in 1990. The straightforward ease-of-use made them among the better examples of the genre. (Intromaker V2, by The Firestalker, was released with very limited distribution and is presumed lost. If you have it, please post!)

In the first half of 1990, The Firestalker/FTA released a series of one-tune music repacks under the "Music To Go" label. The interface displayed playback routine calls, peak raster time consumption, and current rastertime usage in both a border and horizontal graph display. Most MTGs saw little distribution and are presumed lost, but five survive.

Some rag demos produced by FTA members not listed on CSDB are available on bhz's site burninghorizon.com. It is quite possible that burninghorizon.com is out of date because bhz is busy working on a demo, or he's just being lame and lazy. You decide.

Wanderer's older brother Paul (aka Galactus) was one of the first members of FTA.

FTA's two primary coders, Burning Horizon and The Firestalker, met up in St. Louis for a week in the summer of 1990. The group nearly dissolved over an ensuing argument about Taco Bell ordering protocol.

FTA is still alive, and expects to continue its blistering pace of releases well into the 21st century.

This listing is missing "Meet Stab/FTA", which was an introduction demo and was released under FTA around 1990.
