Trivia :

--> 1. THE EARLY DAYS OF THE SUBGROUPS
Crazy was formed by the following groups which first got active as subgroups under the CRAZY label: Russian Cracking Service (Swiss), Zorro Soft Switzerland (Swiss), Monsum Design (Germany), Axion 1999 (Finland) and Bones (Denmark).
The first official Crazy release was Kings of Comedy +2 [seuck].
Crazy cracks in that period were stronger on speed (many originals supplied by Tri-Dos) than on quality. Stingray/RCS 2100 and Cpt.Trubble/ZSS were establishing Crazy well in the modem/US BBS scene and did a number of fast imports from the US.
--> 2. SUBGROUPS MOVING IN AND OUT
After the Ikari & Zargon Party 1989 in March 1989 the Bones left again to go their own way and Axion 1999 was kicked out (mentioned in Read This).
In May 1989 Future Concepts (Swiss) and The Bulldogs (Cologne/Germany; mainly former Array) joined as a new subgroups.
After the Crazy + Stardom Copy-Party 1989, Syndrom 2001 joined Future Concepts; Swiss Precise joined Crazy as a subgroup.
The The Bulldogs turned out to be a good choice: the quality of the cracks raised significantly, some remarkable demos were released (e.g. That's Design) and the popular diskmag MAMBA was launched.
Future Concepts and Swiss Precise left Crazy again in late 1989 when the subgroups dissolved.
--> 3. THE COOPERATIONS
Crazy was in a cracking co-op with Lotus from December 1989 to July 1990.
The co-op with Lotus was interrupted for a short time in 02/1990. Crazy then immediately started another co-op with Genesis Project but that lasted only for three weeks, because it was mainly arranged by the Swiss Sections (The Goblin, FGTH, Martin & Stingray) and the Germans weren't too enthusiastic about the co-op ("mamba" vs. "sex'n'crime" quarrels). Releases from that period e.g. Space Harrier II +2F. After this failure Martin quit the c64 and bought an Amiga, Stingray and Cyberpunk joined Genesis Project.
Right after the end of the co-op with Genesis Project, Crazy restarted the co-op with Lotus. The successful C+L co-op ended when Axiom and Yeti stopped again and all remaining active Lotus members joined Crazy. The last co-op release was Sunny Shine - On the Funny Side of Life! +1T [english].
--> 4. THE END
In March 1991 Crazy died; Welltris was their last release and Magic Man & Felix their last active members. The German section joined forces with the remains of Illusion and Paramount to build up the new promising group called Enigma.
--> 5. MAMBA - CRAZY'S LEGACY
Mamba was a scene related disc magazine focussing on scene news, interviews, charts, demos & cracks. The Name was chosen because of the snake, like a magazine "with teeths" (German expression "mit Biss") that gets you hooked, is catchy, and persistent.
MAMBA was not the first scene related discmag (Magic News October 1988, Sex'n'Crime #01, Coococ #01 were ealier), however became one of the most popular mags in C64 history. The first issue Mamba #01 was released in October 1989. MAMBA was initially coded by Shine aka Sebio, later Magic Man further developped the code. Graphics including the very popular monthly cartoon were done by Gotcha. Main text editor throughout all issues was Peter aka Tycoon. MAMBA was commercially "sponsored" by Game On, who paid real money in order to include the discmag on their monthly disc release.
After Crazy's death, MAMBA was released under the I+T label and later for Enigma. The last issue was released on 17.2.1992: Mamba #25.

Just to solve this riddle:
Crazy was formed at the Crazy & ZSS Party 1988 on 6./7. December 1988 in Pratteln/Switzerland. |
User Comment Submitted by Tim on 9 February 2008
Are you sure the founding date is 1988 ?
I found this release:
Crazy News
News that Crazy was founded and last page mentions a party in 1989.
the future maybe, but all the other wares on the disk were also from 1989 and not 1988!
Also RCS 2001 / Crazy is often credited as being a member, not sub group.. how to handle ori supplies, like Wec Le Mans by the blasters 'supplied by RCS 2001/Crazy' ? |
