I thought the high pitched noise was intentional and regarded it quite accurate for the early era of techno when kick sounds sampled from vinyl often had remnants of hats. :)

Yes, I did realize there is that high pitched, somewhat annoying sound on the bassdrum. Something happens in the conversion to sid, as the original sample does not have such disturbances, and frequency-based there is nothing in the sample that would indicate the conversion from mod to sid would have such an effect.

I still had some time to try to fix the problem before posting this entry, but as minor adjustments on the original sample did not help, I thought I’ll leave it as it is, because it didn’t bother me that much, and by changing the sample I could’ve done more damage than help, especially as the kick is otherwise spot on!

sorry, i wasn't precise enough. the high freq junk is present in original version only. the mp3 version i consider impeccable :)

Re: the high pitched sound on the MP3, let me check against other captures. Maybe it's my sid chip that produces this sound? Those were the 7,5k and 16k resonances I cut.

Tech-tech-tech-techno

Yes, there was something high-pitched unpleasant in that mp3. Had to turn it off after a while. I preferred the sound of the plain version in this case, although I have nothing against post processing (or the type of live tweaking that deetsay asked for in the compo announcement).

10/10 and a lifetime Berghain residency, albeit for the mp3 version - this high pitched garbage on the kickdrum sample is unbearable to my mimosa ears :(

Here's also the processed MP3 as requested in the compo rules. Processing/mastering has been done by Aomeba / Artline Designs in his professional studio. Shortly the processing contains EQ:ing, compressing, and limiting, but more detailed information on what has been done on the track will be provided a little later, as I am currently on a little rush.
