If it's not just a one-off, then please venture even further into the uncharted and scary world of anarchy. I liked the old stuff, but I can see myself liking a little more unexpected Bonzai even more, if possible. :)

Oh, that's right. I _was_ in bonzai PC for lethal display 5. Oh well, lesson learned.

I understand the need for codepr0n, but I don't usually understand what's going on if it's pure codepr0n only.
I don't understand - and I don't care of - the technical background here. I do appreciate that this is different, this has a flow, direction, theme, and an overall completion feel when it's over.
Thanks, Bonzai.

how i do love the unexpected!
i'm so bought by this, infinitely more than even by your finest usual efforts. probably they just don't speak my aesthetical language that much.
"respect your mistakes" and so on. thank you from the heart of my bottom ;)

Trap: as I said, it’s a very nice demo and, of course, not all demos need codep0rn :-) .. I saw the callout to me and just wondered if something was going to follow that would shock. No biggie :-)

Thank you for all the comments. This demo was fun to make. We did it in 5 weeks and the point of it was never to satisfy the programming afficionados like Raistlin and Trident. Trident did spot some of our "this shit isn't easy to make" spots though - thanks :) This demo is about something else and less about technical abilities. We are fully aware that it will split the audiences. Some will like it and some will not. This time we (try to) satisfy a different demography than what is our usual audience. Bonzai can be an acquired taste, so I wanted for us to step outside of our comfort zone and try something different. Try it, you might like it :)

Another thing you maybe consider when looking at this demo from a technical perspective - loading times. See any? Raistlin the 18 seconds in the beginning is called "build up" ;)

Looking back maybe using the Lethal Display series for this experiment wasn't the best idea, but then again. We set our own rules I guess.

Zoo was the best party experience I have had in many, many years. As a scandinavian it is really fantastic to have an alternative to X, that is just as good. If you are only planning one party in the next years, Zoo should be on your shortlist. Thank you organizers for a fantastic party.

Some people asked about Lethal Display 5. It certainly exists. We made on PC in 1994. It was a different time in so many ways and that demo is a very good window into the demo scene of that time. Not saying the demo is good, it most certainly isn't our finest moment.
If you wonder who Mirage is, then yes. Mirage of Booze was once in Bonzai.

Here's a link to the video recording. Get it before Youtube bans it (when you see it you will know what I mean): https://youtu.be/ZT2eCznu2sg

personally i'm not a big fan of the glitch aesthetics. so for me the stuff that i like most in this demo is the non-glitchy things (yes, there are a bunch of those too, if you mentally filter out the little glitchie thingies ;) ). such as:

- the basic fader is cool!
- the geometrical pattern under the Glitch logo
- the big Glitch logo moving over the blurry pattern
- "it ends with us" :O
- "tree than just a more"

but mostly i am deeply saddened that there are no scrollers in there! i was soo looking forward to some new juicy scrollers :( sure there are a few scrollers in there, but not enough!

so maybe the ultra-secret lethal display 5 will be released at some point in the not-too-distant future filled to the brim with new, wonderful scrollers...!

Quite stylish!

Nice to be referenced again - but felt a bit weird to not follow that up with some sort of record-breaker or codep0rn ;p .. I didn’t see any codep0rn in this demo so was a little sad :’( .. I can only assume you’re holding it back for something bigger.

Music and Art throughout is very very nice! Both Facet and Fox did stellar work.

After the awesome transitions in Bromance, I feel like I expect that from Bonzai demos now… so the 18secs pause before the wireframe tunnel effect was a shame.

Great demo to release at Zoo, though, nice to see you guys continuing to support so many parties :-)

Oh, great to see our No Bounds disk-squeezing efforts carried across here - “Make Small Demos Great Again” indeed! - let’s put an end to 2-side demos relaxing over 4 sides :-)

Congratulations on getting second place. Well deserved!
I really liked how you transformed the text at the beginning. Very clever.

The text, (I think Trap wrote them?), are beautiful. I think they deserved more attention in the demo than they got. Now the message got a bit lost.

Grid animation and circle at the end, really nice!
Good work!

I liked this one a lot. Glitching is my kind of a thing and I admire the totally different route this time. You're great at this territory as well and I was expecting you to win the compo.

Nice talking with Trap & Walt as well!

Nice glitchy stuff. Actually I could have been without the poetry-parts myself and just kept it to the rough parts. Even got a CPU Jam in the end-part(!)

Congrats, it's a decent demo, but feels a bit out of place in the LD series. I like your classic style more, but appreciate the effort put into this too.

Yes. That's what we call design, music sync and cool ideas developed into a great production.
To the list Isildur mentioned I would add puppies-kittens-holidays-popculture crap ;)
Welcome to the dark side, Bonzai. You'll love it here.

Perfect design and music. Thank you guys for this excellent newschool demo. C64 deserves some more stylish demos like this. Enough with decades of candy-funky-flowers-skulls-barbie crap :D
