Ubisoft by Jeroen most appealing to me... those breaks and musical variation on expression

but i think the echo routine only does justice on oro incenso, resolution, and crosswords - the rest it adds diginoise, and it makes my ears bleed.
still, this is a milestone musicdemo, and im glad you got it together after a long battle. :D |

Powerhouse <3 (and that's even without Geir's superb echo technique)

| Thanks for the comments guys - certainly brings warmth... I was wondering though... This is defined as a music collection and Noisy Pillars for instance is defined as a one-file demo... Where do you draw the line? ... In a way it is a collection and in a way it is a one-file demo... Is it the amount of tunes... I am asking because I have no clear answer on that myself... Maybe someone can give me a definition ;) ... Well, anyways, I am glad that you like the music... And thanks Xiny for the comment on Caught... That tune is also one of my personal favorites of my own tunes (how narcissistic did that sound ;) ) |

ventura, i and the following commentators are and will be somewhat sorry, but the last comment certainly won't be yours.
i had to have this one to take effect on me, been listeining to this compilation a lot since it got out last sunday.
i still don't get how all this extra echo-channel stuff works, i'm maybe too less of a hacker. though, from the not-so-technical side of things, i totally love the tunes for what they are: solid musicial masterpieces.
resolution and powerhouse are my definite favorites, which shows again that i'm a clear drax-disciple. thomas, double-thumbs up yours. :)
also, major props for lars, the pic of geir is _awesome_; i want to see the reference picture!
other than that, there's a thing i'm wondering about, is jogeir member of mon these days? and moreover, if he is, will he finally do some music on c64 on his own? |

beautiful and coherent music disk!
my favs were hard to choose, but I guess they are ubi-sound and the jogeir track. though, all of them stand out as much as they should in a Maniacs of Noise release.

High quality SID all in all, although sometimes the low resolution of the NMI echo NMI hurts ;). Other than that it's so great to hear new or unreleased stuff from all of you, Maniacs!
The gfx and the design is neat. The tunes play one after another in a good fashion, but the bottom scroll, though looks wicked is really hard to read. |

I'm kind of glad you decided to release this as-is, instead of waiting for me to come up with something better graphics-wise.
I never liked the big scroll and also don't really like the picture of you i drew (multi-colour is still a b*tch, i prefer FLI ;))
I do like the little scrolls in the top left, which you added recently... it's almost as if that was the only thing needed to make the whole thing look a bit more coherent.
Anywhoo, glad that it's released now and out of the way...
The music at least is magnificant, to say the least, and that's what it was all about to begin with :) (and 'Resolution' is my favourite, nice job, drax)

Very well executed! I have no problems with the scrollerz..
The exact logic of the table at $bf00-$bfff beats me. Of course I can see that different values will be fetched depending on the current envelope and oscillator value in sid voice3, but why exactly it looks the way it does... i.e., why the "middle" values are lower than the lower values on each row, and why there is a bit of "toggling" back and forth between values when going from left to right in the table... (Row is determined by the hi nibble of the envelope generator, and the oscillator value is shifted down to a 4 bit value and stored in the lo nibble of the pointer to this table, i.e. the position on each row).

Love the Jogeir Liljedahl arrangement! Also, Crosswords - one of my most fondly remembered tunes.
...as for the font - it's legendary! It holds so much scene memory association - it is an 'institution' in itself and helps take this production to a warm and well-acquainted place. :) |
