My bloody valentine reference ? :) | User Comment Submitted by SplAtterpunk on 14 September 2013 User Comment Submitted by Celtic on 30 August 2009
Everytime Deev releases one of his pictures i always am sad that there has never been a proper big demo featuring his designs and graphics... still hoping though. | User Comment Submitted by PAL on 15 May 2009
It is beautiful... maybe I would create an interlaced fli image for my new demo... hmmm... what kind of software did you use?
Your PAL | User Comment Submitted by Deev on 15 May 2009
Heh, glad you like it! It was entirely dithered at 320x200 using the c64's colour palette, no down grading from 24 bit or anything. I'm not sure I can explain *how*, just many years of practice I guess! (I've been pixelling on this computer in some form since I was about 8, I'm now 31!). Take a look at the workstages if you want an idea of how it built up. | User Comment Submitted by PAL on 15 May 2009
Hello, just an old scener passing by... This is an image that is so good... can I dear to ask if you used thimathes software to dither the image? I meen your image is soo cool but I can not understand how the human mind would set pixels like this... I know alot about pixeling images by hand as I have done my share of this and today I see alot of images on the c64 that are not made by a human mind in my mind... am I human... what the fuck? but I really admire your image and think it would be perfect on a 24bit display too and wonder if that is what you created and then let thimantes dither it for the c64? Your image is not the one I would let out of the closet to reveil that where autodithered with some manual perfection, but really I just have to ask... It is not logical to me that a human mind can operate this just by pixeling manually... it is a great picture do not misunderstand me, I think it is as great as it is even it were not manually pixeled... but pleace make me understand that you did that, and how your mind works when doing this... Because I can not find it to be true, it is just too good... and perfect and above most I ever have seen. It is a wonderful image on any platform is my point here...

Yazoo
Just to let you know I have no problem with the result, you finished above me fair and square. Besides, I don't think I deserved to finish above Duce's "Am Zahnarzt" pic, so I can't complain :)
You're right about pixellng girls, I've been calling this my "sell out" pic for a few days now, because I went with a girl motive and hardcore pixelling, thinking it would give me a better vote in front of a large audience. Perhaps I misjudged slightly :)
When I see some of the other graphics from this party, both in the compo and in the various demos, it makes me wish I'd done something a bit more original (even though I do think I added my own touch to this picture with the colour scheme and the dress/hair/flowers, all of which were added by me to create the look I had in my mind). The plus side is that this is motivating me to do lots more graphics to try and compete with the graphicians whose work I most respect!
btw Saehn, not sure about other entries, but the version I submitted to the compo wasn't signed, so perhaps people are just spreading signed versions afterwards.
Thanks everyone for the comments and votes, it's much appreciated! | User Comment Submitted by Yazoo on 28 October 2008
look at the compo results... i cant see much of namevoting there (why would i be 2nd, or arturo 3rd when it comes to namevoting? i dont think i have a big name as a graphician) - i think its the projector making the difference sometimes - some pics look better with a projector and some do less. everything was a bit blurry and white had a little too much contrast in the compo. btw, very nice pic and a masterpiece execution-wise. i just wish that there is a little less compopics showing a female... after 20 years in the scene - seeing thousands of females in c64 pictures it becomes a little boring :-) but that is just my two cents - this one is great anyways. like always i love deev's work | User Comment Submitted by booker on 27 October 2008
I wasn't at pic compo being busy finishing the stuff, but for tunes they said: no names/anything to be displayed to the screen.
And then, they actually were saying the names! :)
It's hard to grasp it :)

Great pic, distinctive Deev style.
I wonder too about some of what Booker writes... the rules said "no names" on the pics but I guess that wasn't enforced. (Not to single anyone out, many pics were signed.) | User Comment Submitted by booker on 26 October 2008
This (low compo position) is what happens, when everyone knows who's competing, and votes goes for ppl, rathen than work.
Dev - goddamn 11/10
Respect.

so nice i almost fell in love. | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 26 October 2008
should have won, for sure. | User Comment Submitted by Archmage on 26 October 2008
This should have placed higher I think. It is obvious that Deev has great skill when it comes to both composition and pixel distribution. | User Comment Submitted by QuasaR on 25 October 2008
This wish blows me away! Great work, nice colouring! | User Comment Submitted by art|work on 25 October 2008
Great, work! Love the simplistic, yet beautiful color scheme, fits the picture very well. | User Comment Submitted by Bizzmo on 25 October 2008
That was a bit sneaky not telling me that you were doing something for X! Nice picture - I like the timeless quality of it. | User Comment Submitted by Burglar on 25 October 2008
awesome pic, kinda reminds me of Shiver :) | User Comment Submitted by leonofsgr on 25 October 2008
Wow Deev! This is amazing picture! Lovely face and the background flowers is a good idea! Great! | User Comment Submitted by Jazzcat on 25 October 2008
Wonderful work. I actually appreciate the blankness on the left side, gives it an uncluttered feel. I caught her kiss (edit: I mean wish! ;)) first! | User Comment Submitted by Skate on 25 October 2008
nice work, interesting colors. looks a little bit incomplete. | User Comment Submitted by Motion on 25 October 2008
