One of my alltime favourite images on the C-64 have always been the loaderscreen for Rambo - First Blood Part II by Steven Wahid. Ever since the first time I saw it, I dreamt about having made it. So now, 20 years afterwards, I decided that I should. This is my image, although without any doubt based on work of Steven Wahid. Actually, it doesn't only share similarities - it is almost pixel-by-pixel identical with his 1985 image. But this one is made in 2011, painted and pixeled by hand in Timanthes and PSP whereas Wahid probably pixeled his in Koala Painter, on a native Commodore 64.

As with all art, the context is everything - so please note that this is no "copy and cut'n paste"-image. This is a pixel-by-pixel recreation of the Rambo loaderscreen. Recreation? Yes. Low color digital images are interesting in the way that it is possible to recreate them in a 100% identical way. The individual pixel can be recognized and re-plotted, and eventhough it still is a new work - containing completely different data - it looks 100% like the original. Text and data have the pecularity that you are able to manually render exact copies of an original - provided you have enough time on your hands. As an old actor, I know that it is infact possible to word-by-word memorize a short-story or even an entire novel. By a manual eye-to-hand, hand-to-screen process you could also translate an image into a new one, pixel by pixel. This is the result of such a process.
