Just to let you know, the cracking world is going on somewhere completely else than the 64 or CSDb. This is just a fun outlet for us playing with our hobby from teenage times.

Maybe we should move the discussion about what to call a "crack" to the forum.
What is a "crack"?
Cannot remember many games since 1994 that needed real cracking.
Recognized that life-trainer-protection, too. Funny and unexpected idea.

@hedning: I added a small 'trainer protection' for fun. Nothing special. The sheep start behaving strange, when unlimited lives turned on. Slator sent me a PM and said he enjoyed it :)

If there there is a copyprotection that was cracked there is the credit "crack", otherwise just credit linking and training or whatever. It's that simple, and everyone can see what was done.

That also makes me wonder what kind of copyprotection that was cracked by Didi here. (Slator did not need to crack anything it seems).

"Make it harder on ourselves", "category jungle"? Are you serious? Do you really think 'crackers' nowadays don't know what they are doing? If they've removed a copy protection they cracked it, if they've hacked the code for any other purpose, they modified it. This raises the question why people deliberatly play dumb.

What Celtic says. We had this discussion again and again and again. In the last two years I wanted some of my releases to be labelled mod instead of crack but was told that cracking is no longer necessarily removing copyright protection but includes modding, fixing etc. Leave it like it is, no category jungle needed, merits or not.

no! we are not gonna make it harder on ourselves with a catergory that has no merit. This falls under the traditional parameters of a crack.

Maybe we should request a new credit category "modification" or something like this? ;)

@IanCoog: Yes, I know. Removing a copyprotection is cracking in the original sense. All the rest is what any other scene would call a hack or a mod - not a 'crack'. That's in fact what the csdb rules call them: 'unauthorized modifications'. There's nothing wrong with hacks or mods though ;)

Achim: I do not claim any version is superior. Each has its own merits (onslaught for being first (which has its own prestige in the scene) and extremely quick, laxity spending time on further trainers, one-filing and some raster fix). Love the game and the cool title picture, keep up the top efforts mate.

"'Cracking' a game is parasitic by nature"
No shit, it's obvious. Cracking normally it's about releasing for free something you generally have to pay for. If you get your original ruined you'll have to pay again for it, while the crack is infinitely copiable.
A crack of an unprotected game is only about adding features it misses, like trainers (google the meaning of "to train") and hisavers, ALL SELECTABLE, you are not forced to use them. It's a plus. When Hisaver is enabled, the trainer menu disables all the trainers. Bugfixes are more than welcome. The competition is about releasing the best version, if you don't like it, just don't look, you'll not going to stop it anyway even if you complain until your death.

Due to the fact that Jazzcat claims that the Onslaught release is somehow superior compared to this one, because it's been released so quickly while Didi claims that this release offers more bug fixes, I'd like to utter my opinion about 'cracks' in general.
None of this makes sense to me.
First of all: 'Cracking' a game is parasitic by nature. 'Cracks' usually don't add something special to a game. Does a gamer really need a trainer? I doubt it. A trainer simply kills the fun.
Does a game need an additional hiscore saver? Ok, some games do, but those people who want it, obviously don't want a trainer.
Overall I think a 'crack' is a minor contribution to the scene.
Anyway, if some groups want to compete against each other - go for it. But that's nothing but a sideshow.

Expected that question. Check Production Notes.
BTW: Fine game, Achim! Enjoyed it!

NTSC fix? Improved hiscore entry? Hey Didi and Goat, could you please explain what you did here?

Real life first, hobbies have to stand back.

Fix was easy and ready for long time. But why not spend
some more time on quality if there's no more race to win.

Well, took you guys long enough! which is why I call it a mail scene release, as this quality is of course easily achieveable if there is plenty of time. :D Good show though, main point is one-file, (I do not care for NTSC fixing personally but some still do of course), some of the trainers kinda pointless in my view.

I actually prefer this to the Onslaught released, I like how the docs, pic and game are single filed (gives better consistency for a small game imo, for example when including the game on an EasyFlash, etc).
Not bad! :)
