You may have heard about the ZX spectrum or the VIC-20 being able to play SID tunes. Well what if you mix the tech of those SID players and the C64? You get SoftSID!
SoftSID is a SID player for the C64. but there's a twist. It doesn't use any of the SID features. So everything is played and the audio is mixed with the CPU in software.
This obviously means that you can't do much with the screen but hey, at least you can listen to SID music at a lo-fi sample rate of ~7.8khz in the comfort of your C64 ;)
