Sad to see someone play politics in the voting for this demo & downvote it. They should feel ashamed. | User Comment Submitted by HBH.ZTH on 23 October 2024
Insane. The best C64 demo I have seen in a loooong time. 10 out of 10. On all levels. And so original. | User Comment Submitted by DivertigO on 19 October 2024
Wow.. everything. Soundtrack grabbed me. | User Comment Submitted by F7sus4 on 27 September 2024
It does what E2IRA did, yet even in a more refined way. As always, I totally admire the design and art direction.
That probably is just me, but I'd choose less convoluted dithering model for "robot terror" part, so it would match the other scenes' style better. Apart from that, perfect.
So now... time for ESIR4 in 2026! ;-) | User Comment Submitted by Digger on 25 September 2024
This would be how I'd imagine a demo by Druid/Agony (hi!) in 2024 ;-)
Very clever usage of animations – they are looong (hard to see any looping!) and utilise sprites what makes them look dynamic and realtime. Not being a fan of pure hires (ZX like), still I must say the gfx is very neat. Sound is top notch too.
Lots of fresh ideas finally brought to C64. Final synthwave pop and matrix lines fit so well. Thanks guys.
PS
Who did the handwriting font btw.? | User Comment Submitted by Copyfault on 22 September 2024
The other demo from Xenium that surprised me! I totally dig the overall design, but when reading "Arise" and then "3SIRA", I was sure this thing *WILL* be a blast.
I wasn't disappointed ;)
Thank you for this piece of art, and please give us more! | User Comment Submitted by Bob on 5 September 2024
Very nice demo!! yes Anim combined with Color Cycle and other Fx! That is really impressive, TBH I don't even know how you fit all those animations in and then colorize every single frame in it. That is not easy! + adding another fx to it.
of course my fav parts are color cycles ;) Thanx for stretching the horizon here ! | User Comment Submitted by QuasaR on 4 September 2024
What a blast this demo is!! I really liked Bimber style and Jammers music, besides the nice code! | User Comment Submitted by DKT on 4 September 2024
What a show! Everything in this demo works perfectly. I liked the vectors the most (wired ones and rubberized gouraud). Bimber's graphics are excellent, and again that brilliant Jammer... You make a great team.
It's hard to compare this demo to Cepelia demo, that's why a draw (that's how I see it) seems to be perfect here.
It was great to meet you again at the party <3
See ya around folks :) | User Comment Submitted by wacek on 2 September 2024
I added some trivia about the demo and the parts, enjoy. | User Comment Submitted by Clarence on 2 September 2024
That wasp scene is so cool, instantly reminded me of that old Nooon demo. While these 'smart' big animations are impressive, I think you had a better selection / variation in E2IRA. Nevertheless liked the Amigaish design and the syncing with the soundtrack. | User Comment Submitted by Jetboy on 2 September 2024
But the graphics from Bimber... i cannot express my admiration enough! | User Comment Submitted by Jetboy on 2 September 2024
Super demo. Great graphics from Bimber makes it shine as those are next level, Jammer as usual made amazing music, with code and animation from Luke and Wacek it created extremely good show. To the last minute i was not sure who will get first place. To me we are all winners, Arise, Gordian and Elysium. We rocked the place, and c64 demo compo was the best part of Xenium 2024. Lots of love to all sceners! | User Comment Submitted by MCM on 2 September 2024
wow what a cool demo, great design, code, gfx and ace soundtrack by jammer ! | User Comment Submitted by Zephyr on 2 September 2024
Stunning design - as always! | User Comment Submitted by wbochar on 2 September 2024
It's a great piece of work, lovely in all the ways that matter. Thanks for making it. | User Comment Submitted by KAL_123 on 2 September 2024
Great demo with good effects and nice music! The whole Esira series is top! | User Comment Submitted by wacek on 1 September 2024
@Oswald: realtime eye vector, realtime motion-blur effect, realtime dripping effect, realtime gfx mirroring, particles (precalculated but not animated), combining of asynchronous "bitplanes" on the fly etc. Shitload of new stuff.
Yet you, Edhellon and some others somehow have no issue with simple animation loops in Cepelia. Yeah, it's the "techniques" that are an issue ;) | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 1 September 2024
I must add the bee scene is really cool. | User Comment Submitted by Oswald on 1 September 2024
A lot of work great design and cool ideas here. Still not big fan of the "techniques" :)
Sending my kisses to Bimber, I really adore his style. | User Comment Submitted by wacek on 1 September 2024
@Matt, thanks! But I need to stress, that we really are one design team with bimber :) we really are "on the same frequency" when it comes to how the things should look like, and the choices we make are consulted (I suck at colors, for example). I love the graphics he made for this demo, in some cases they are even inspiration for whole parts (see: swallower of worlds which came about strictly from the background image).
@Burglar: for this moment I think there will not be another demo in this series. I can clearly see it's not the techniques we use that are to blame, as others use it even more primitively and do not get the same pushback. I don't know what it is and I am less and less motivated to look for it. | User Comment Submitted by Burglar on 1 September 2024
very cool demo, really digging all the bimber gfx.
next one will be ESIR4? :) | User Comment Submitted by Yogibear on 1 September 2024
Fantastic and innovative! | User Comment Submitted by Shogoon on 1 September 2024
Congrats guys on another amazing demo! I loved every moment of it. I especially dig the gfx and soundtrack by Jammer is a true masterpiece. Also I'd like to thank Wacek for giving me, Zephyr and Jetboy a cosy place to stay overnight. You are a true c64 friend. | User Comment Submitted by Matt on 1 September 2024
Fuck off, no way!
@Wacek, I don't know you, you don't know me, but I have been lurking around for over 35+years and sir I must say you are simply the king of design, a league on your own. The quality of your productions are simply beyond words.
Anyways, hats off to you and the whole Arise team! Respect! | User Comment Submitted by 4gentE on 1 September 2024 User Comment Submitted by Mibri on 1 September 2024
Not a single second wasted here, pure killer parts from top to bottom. The greets part is madness. The inertia vectors thing and the Unknown Pleasures-esque thing... all looking so nice. Definitely a demo to return to again and again. Great production, great (subtle!) message. Arise rocks! | User Comment Submitted by Dr.Science on 1 September 2024
Massive Demo! Another amazing Soundtrack here and great graphics all through. Loved the rubber cube part! | User Comment Submitted by Stone on 1 September 2024
Another outstanding demo from you guys :D To have such superb quality releases at the same party, this is X-level stuff for sure. | User Comment Submitted by wacek on 1 September 2024
Thanks all for the warm comments.
@Trident, thanks for noticing this node to „Stars” (we all love this demo!), there is also a node to Atari demo „Numen” in the beginning of side 2, also accompanied by Jammer emulating Pokey chip with SID, which some might have missed… ;) he is a fucking genius, no less! | User Comment Submitted by trident on 1 September 2024
oooh yeah great!
the dithered landscape during the credits that suddenly get a layer of motion blur - very very cool.
the z-colored rubber cube that casts its shadow onto the wobbly radial background is awesome. very fast updates too, so i have no idea how all that fits into memory at the same time.
the stars / nooon reference may be easy to miss, but if you love that demo, you'll see and hear it immediately - lovely! | User Comment Submitted by katon on 1 September 2024
Congratulation Arise ! Great Demo ! | User Comment Submitted by t0m3000 on 1 September 2024
ja pierd... amazing, great! | User Comment Submitted by Asthor on 1 September 2024
Amazing demo, amazing idea! Wow! | User Comment Submitted by Epyx on 1 September 2024 User Comment Submitted by celticdesign on 1 September 2024 User Comment Submitted by Brush on 1 September 2024
The naming scheme suggested there could be a sequel to E2IRA and boy what a sequel it is! Very, very well designed demo (as usual i should add) not such a shock as E2IRE as we now all know how it's done but from the visual perspective - top notch stuff here. As usual you also pushed the art of c64 animation one notch higher by clever application/enhancements. For me the highlight of the demo was Bimber graphics. I simply love it. LOVE IT!. Music complements it really well too. I don't think that when both groups started to work on a new demos, we expected to end up in the same competition but finally it was a pleasure and honor to be in the same competition with you (and in your hometown as well). Until the next time. Because there will be next time, right? :) | User Comment Submitted by Raistlin on 1 September 2024 User Comment Submitted by chancer on 1 September 2024
nice enough demo.. but came across as really "designed" to me , just seems a lot of hires and colour map stuff was used. nice enough, but needs more of a "jaw drop" to make me think it's a 10. not stick to the "formula" makes me smile | User Comment Submitted by Isildur on 1 September 2024
Bimber is on fire, amazing graphics. Grat production, great design and music. Congrats guys. | User Comment Submitted by spider-j on 1 September 2024
Dang, dat scare jump XD
Awesome music, Jammer! Especially parts of side B were extremly "challenging" for a demo soundtrack – bold move – great execution. | User Comment Submitted by El Jefe on 1 September 2024
Great demo: Well designed, effects look awesome and the soundtrack rocks! More please!! | User Comment Submitted by HCL on 1 September 2024
This was quite awesome!! :D | User Comment Submitted by Strepto on 31 August 2024
Today is my birthday, perfect timig :). Thank you guys! Truly amazeing! | User Comment Submitted by iAN CooG on 31 August 2024
Mother of god. 10/10. And fuckings to the downvoters. | User Comment Submitted by CreaMD on 31 August 2024
Kudos for nod to Xray / Grayscale, I wanted more though ;) | User Comment Submitted by Flotsam on 31 August 2024
Quite a soundtrack. Quite a demo. | User Comment Submitted by chatGPZ on 31 August 2024
Some very clever combinations of anim and realtime there | User Comment Submitted by Flex on 31 August 2024
Thank you guys, this is solid as a rock! BIG effects. Soundtrack alone is massive and all the sync sure paid off. Seems like Jammer has a distinctive "Arise mode" in his vast repertoire, in a blind test I would have said it's Arise. Not easy being still different when you're obviously after a continuum here.
Perhaps at first glance it didn't immediately hit me as hard as E2IRA on the first run, maybe thanks to my (unfairly) massive expectations. ;-)
Still, what a great and entertaining demo, kudos to all 4 guys involved. Only the greetings-list was a slight personal disappointment.. :-)
Hope to see ESIR4 in the future. | User Comment Submitted by Xiny6581 on 31 August 2024
What an excellent demo! Top notch design. The music and graphics knocked me out! I mean this is not supposed to be done on a C64 <3 | User Comment Submitted by Mixer on 31 August 2024 User Comment Submitted by Joe on 31 August 2024
Awesome stuff! Great combination of graphical elements and visually striking moving spaces which really make one feel it's from another platform! Lovely music and graphics! |
