The Cartridge That Wasn't
The story of this cartridge began back in 2022. That was when c00k, a former editor of the K&A Plus magazine and also the author of the culinary blog Crisis Cookbook, approached Raf with the idea of creating a compilation of C64 games with a culinary theme. He also presented the idea to the editor-in-chief of K&A Plus, Komek, suggesting it could be a great concept, possibly even the main theme of an issue. This would allow the cartridge to be distributed as a cover disk with the magazine.

Discussions progressed slowly, but finally, in mid-2024, Komek decided it would be a great issue, and c00k, as an external collaborator, would take charge of it. Unfortunately, in the meantime, Raf, the usual supplier of cartridges, parted ways with the magazine's editorial team, which caused problems with the cartridge production. c00k proposed finding a new supplier and delivering a batch of cartridges, but the response was along the lines of "no, just no."

For the same reason ("just no"), the games did not make it onto the cover disk included with the issue, and the entire compilation was forgotten. Only after the issue had been published, it turned out that this coincided with the release of one of the games promoted by the magazine. Since there can only be one king, it was this game—and not the culinary games—that became the main theme of the issue.

Nevertheless, the effort put into the project was not wasted, and the results are now on your C64.
