Can you actually fish with this thing?

Or is it 'Reel Fishing Partial Menu System Preview' ????

Jazzcat: did you know that when you were helping guys at CID producing Enahanced Newcomer they didn't expect (didn't get it?) that you will automatically take that as "yes" for spreading it (Onslaught+Chromance)? I don't know with whom you were actually communicating but after it happened I have sensed some faint but hurted emotional waves going from that direction ;-). It's offtopic here and I know that you actually do respect PTV requests (we had chat about DIDI/Laxity for the same reasons), but how was it with CID's Newcomer?

Style: Finally someone decent who also shares my views and isn't afraid to say it out loud. Thank you! Ready: also very good points!

Zyron: spreading a preview like hell is IMO positive thing if adding intro helps it, I don't have problem to close eyes or two casting a satisfied grin like a cheshire cat.

Style: to some point I agree, if someone doesn't want their stuff spread I certainly won't spread it (e.g. Mermaid's games I've had since years now). In the case of this preview, Courage asked me to do it. A real pity people like Wanderer don't give a shit and just want to cause deliberate trouble. I'm sure in the case of Tanks 3000, no deliberate trouble was meant.

Personally I think its pretty gay to 'crack' stuff that people dont want spread. Long gone are the days where you were only hurting faceless, money-grabbing behemoths like Ocean. Now its some guy sitting behind his 64..... no respect.

As I said, personal opinion.

The "fuck offs" based on my low knowledge on the english language. So it's impossible to write down all my minds. Sending "fuck offs" wasn't a good idea i think. But what many of you are doing here? Insulting other people seems to be ok? That Tanks 3000 was cracked was not the reason that i've stopped my work on c64. It were some few people who can't differ between a person who spend many time on a c64-project and a group like PTV. I know that many of you dislike PTV. And these persons use this as pretence to inveigh on everything which have to do with PTV. Maybe many people can put away these verbal attacks better than i do...my courage has left me. So Courage left you. (great wordplay) :)

I don't mean that the crackers have all the blame. Of course it's up to Courage to continue his games in spite of what happens on the scene. I guess it depends on what one expects from the scene. There are sceners who keep releasing games even if they get cracked, re-cracked, re-re-cracked,...and even if other people insult them. It's all up to what one looks for. We are all different, so somebody might quit making games because his previous games got cracked. I did not mean to blame anybody, I just wanted to highlight a cause-effect sequence of events under certain conditions. Change the conditions (i.e. different game writer expectations) and you get a different effect. That's all.

I haven't accused you of anything Zyron, I think you are overreacting here.

No need for sarcasm, if you really felt you had to respond to what I wrote try not to drift away from my point..
I have nothing to do with this guy & in no way am I involved in cracking of his previews yet he thinks it's perfectly ok to tell me to go fuck myself in his self-pity-note & to give me + all other sceners the blame why he'll stop producing games. Pretty childish IMO.

Yes he is clueless that there 1. are people who will not respect him for what he is doing and will crack his game and even laugh to his face after that 2. people who will not say anything agains it and accept it as a normal situation in 2006 because this is the scene and games were always cracked 3. because he doesn't get that it's perfectly fair behaviour to spit on somene like him - a naive fuck who thought that IF scene shrinked so extremely and everyne is closer to each other and most of us know each other and communicate with each other THAT must mean we will respect each other's wishes, claims, demands, rights... whatever.

Yeah.. those who got a clue.. great people. They know that producing games is worthless, they won't get a penny for it, they won't get a respect for it. They got a clue so they rather spend time doing nothing than wasting time for C64 scene. Let's hope PRotovision will get a clue too.. sooner the better. Less controversy around this place.. silnce... relax.. and stench of dying but proud cracking scene ;-)))))

Giving fuckings to all sceners, legal or illegal, & giving them the blame why a preview won't be finished is extremely lame & only proves that the guy is totally clueless...

@Violator: ok a group cracks it and a few hundred of people gets to play it.....but will we ever get to see the full game Reel Fishing? Maybe not, who is to blame? Anyways, I think that in 2006 anybody releasing a new game should be aware that it will be cracked, trained, re-cracked,.....

Wanderer, seriously - do you really think releases by cracker groups will harm the sales of a game on the C64 in 2006? I would think deleting people's CSDB entries, uploading someone's unreleased originals (to deliberately offend) and sending people condoms causes more harm to the individual and also uses less skill.

Seriously how much money can you make of a c64 game these days? You work on a game and sell it to 10 people. Was it worth the effort? A group cracks it and a few hundred people get to play it. Which is better ??

If one of the last remaining C64 game companies wants to program a game and try to make a buck, I say go for it!

The time invested in the graphics and coding, promoting it, you can't help but feel empathy for Protovision. The idea of including a bullet was actually pretty cool.

So Roland (I look at his picture and think of Pat from Saturday Night Live - what sex is it?) purchases it, throws an intro on it and spreads it as a crack. Lame.

Roland's desperation is showing. Re-releasing Richard's works, public domain downloads and now an unprotected game.

When Protovision calls it quits as so many of the other companies have done in the past, you can all go back to re-cracking (context: re-tread, re-peat, re-hash) what was already cracked 20 years ago and tell yourselves this is okay because you had the original. Yep, we needed the five sentences of "common sense" documentation and the 20 blocks file-shortened in a world now measured in gigabytes. We need to see another version of what was already played 20 years ago.

The desperation has never been more apparent and it will only get worse :) I'm glad I was around when releases meant FRESH and NEW.

Verbal lynch party. Courage unable to handle the situation. well.. I wouldn't mind if PTV quitted. After all that "appreciation" on various forums it probably the only thing that scene deserves. Didn't I say that scene eats itself? ;-)))

LOL!
Being fucked first is most satisfying! °still dripping..° ;)
And all that because of 1 post I made at the Hema-crack?
I guess it must have hurt a lot.

Anyway,I recieved 2 emails last year from Protovision in which they asked for graphics.
Both where replied in a possitive way,but never answered on.
And now this ´courage´ dude downvotes me.
Yeah,that is the real scene-spirit!! ;P

Haha, thumbs up for handing out real fuckings in 2006 (not just Dekadance "Fuckings to Fairlight" style fuckings).

This "Courage", whomever he may be, certainly has an interesting view on what constitutes the scene, to say the least. But things like these have always been good for a laugh, anyway, so cheers to that.

Now I'll give the game a try.

The rastersplit & scroll (including $d800 scroll) in the boat controlling part are nice. Too bad it scrolls very slowly :)

Read the note Courage has spread with this game. He seems to be quite upset after Tanks 3000 was released. Anyway, just wanna say that this preview was sent to me by him. Enjoy it and I do hope he comes back and has fun on this machine, like demo coders and other people. Yeh people release games, but we have known this since 1982 now. Cracking is no attack on him at all, at least not from my crew in this release. This preview shows his unfinished code. Hope he continues with this game and shows people what he can do on the breadbox.
