nice tune, you can tell that quite some soul went into this one. i think this tune could grow to be one of my favorite rambones-tunes. alas, this one is anything but compo-material. still, #24 is a bit too low, give it some 5 more places up there and we're talking. | User Comment Submitted by Hein on 29 October 2008
I like the first part alot, nice melody. The up tempo sounds a bit forced. | User Comment Submitted by Burglar on 29 October 2008
what archmage said.
I dont like the first part, it gets on my nerves. uptempo part: now you're talking | User Comment Submitted by jailbird on 29 October 2008
Great tune Rambones! Having it on for quite a while now during work, and I think it's very listenable and motivational. Shame for the low place :( | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 29 October 2008
i understand - repetitiveness and mantra-like composition of psy-trance mixed together with more conventional - less oriental harmonies ;) | User Comment Submitted by Archmage on 29 October 2008
I like it. I think the melody sits better with the increased tempo in the second half. | User Comment Submitted by Radiant on 29 October 2008
By the time this played in the compo I was starting to get annoyed by the fact that a lot of the tunes seemed to use the same bass + chord sequence throughout the entire tune, only varying the melody. I was first afraid that'd be the case with this tune as well, but I'm glad I got wrong. Unfortunately the compo was totally the wrong arena for this piece. Though I wouldn't say this is Jan's best tune, it's certainly good, with some very nice progressive breaks. | User Comment Submitted by SIDWAVE on 29 October 2008
I have done this tune with great energy and feeling happy. Yes! believe it! What i do is simply, once the mood is set, i try to develop it, using my usual trance composing style. The tune starts in one place, and ends in another, at least for me. It's somehow hard to explain... maybe you need to have listened a lot of psytrance to understand what i mean. | User Comment Submitted by Hate Bush on 28 October 2008
*confirmed* the best tune Jan ever wrote. | User Comment Submitted by Linus on 28 October 2008
Easily your best tune so far, Rambones. Still, as Jammer pointed out, while the lead is interesting the accompaniment remains a bit boring throughout the tune. | User Comment Submitted by booker on 28 October 2008
I agree with you, Leming.
There's absolutelly nothing wrong with the tune, and it makes the listener what is intended to - low and sad. And the happy part is sad too :/ Made my low note though. And you don't want low notes at the msx compo....
Ideal piece of SID tune for a msx collection. | User Comment Submitted by Leming on 28 October 2008
Fantastic tune. It created the sort of layer of sadness around it. Nothing wrong in sadness, in fact it worked very well. It makes the listener what it intends to. Very well expressed! Hearing it first at X I was a little dissapointed but now at home I can say its pretty good tune. Good effort, and I think it should be almost in the top10 of the compo. Say top11 :)I think it made such a low place because people dont like sadness, well especially at the compo, so next time mate you should make the tune happier and you will defo make the top because there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Unfortunatelly a good sound with a depressing style and solos.
I liked your x'2006 more. | User Comment Submitted by Jammer on 27 October 2008
i guess the main problem is that there's a plenty of interesting action in the lead layer whereas the background is practically the same. nevertheless, it's really courageous piece of music with a number of surprising harmonies. thumbs up, jan. i also think, it's severely underrated. | User Comment Submitted by DRAX on 27 October 2008
I really like this tune... I really don't understand why it was ranked so low... This is actually the best tune I have heard from Rambones... There are some strange chords in the ending though... | User Comment Submitted by SIDWAVE on 26 October 2008
