first $d020/21 scroller I saw was in '90, not sure if it was the first one and the splits are smaller tho.

it's the last part in this Shit demo (don't flame me, the group is called like that :P)

misread LAX first. Sure SAX should do, nice idea!
But a pain to consider during editing Im sure ;-)
I will consider this...there should be about 50 useful combinations.

UPDATE:
check here for a full version of the gfx and some SAX implementation:

@enthusi: No 4th color with SAX? :)

@mankeli: There have also been $d020-scrollers before (e.g. upscroller in Darwin)

this mode is used before in at least 2 prods ( Roots and Siege 64 ), but this one is still very nice.

Horrible, but wonderful!

Cool.

I had the same idea years ago. My idea did not included scrolling the image, but simply displaying a static image built from rasters, and possibly flickering for extra colour.

To my mind this was THE highlight at the party though many of the party guests - due to lack of understanding or for reasons I can't see - did not really appreciate it in the way this release deserves it, being innovative!

Wow! Beautiful to me, this is probably my fave new gfx mode since interlaced PETSCII.
I could do without the 'ONS'-screen myself, but it's a 4k 'demo' afterall :)

Reminds me a bit of some Atari 2600 mode, but i guess on c64 some nice transitions/animations would be possible too with these rasters. Hope to see this mode explored more - i certainly feel tempted.

@iAN read production notes ;-)
What good would a 'new mode' be without acronym? We chose to call it "PRS" for permanent raster split ;-)

A swan made from split rasters. Very cool.

excellent, but you have forgotten to make up an acronym for this new "graphix mode" ;)

not a real beauty, but a nice attempt to kick out something which is a bit different - so good job
