Amazing, awesome, and all that I said already at x :)

Just dropped in to throw in my 10 points into the bucket, and csdb vote on all 27 tunes.

That said, reading the comments just wanted to comment this side note.. I remember a few years back thinking how fucked everyone would be if Linus would set his sound design skills to a slightly more poppy/catchy mainstream taste tune in compo's.. (don't get me wrong, I love the niche in a niche sids you guys have going on the last years) but voila.. number one..

I hate and love all of you guys (writing comments) at the same time! :)

But hell.. batteries recharged at X and I'm seeing this sid scene as the formula one now.. give me a damn seat in the back of the field and at least I'll be able to tell people that I raced amongst gods even though they lapped me 20 times per race :)

Damn.. seriously regret not having an entry for x.. won't happen again :)

Keep pumping out tracks like this!!! :)

aka How To Conquer The Music Compo

accessible 4/4, funky basslines, great melodies, exceptional sound work, loads of twists to keep you on your toes throughout and very clear speech on top (cant believe some ppl cant hear that)

So, speech synth, it has this wow factor the quality very much resembles SAM digi so yeah, but on the other hand, it doesn't surpass it, so it's OK. There's a lot of work involved in it but again, I'm wating for the time when we'll get something which will resemble human voice much more ;) And to be fair we musicans have now code driving methods speeding up on this subject, so we better start using these brains or we'll be far behind sonner than expected ;-)

I honestly don't get all this hyper over the speech stuff, because even though it is there, it makes no sense to me what it is trying to say. I applaud the tune mainly for the bassline/arp and lead work... the "chinka-chinka" effect is just an extra.

After analysing with siddump I have to add that besides the speech synthesis the rest is also very clever arranged. Especially kick drum on two channels is a very good idea for party crowd impressing. And using two channels for real power chords instead of arps also rocks hard (of course only works in that offbeat style). In the parts where you even have that unfiltered bass on third voice you actually use all three voices for stuff people often try to fit into one voice - your approach makes it extremely 'phat'. So thank you, I learned much and got new inspiration!

You basically need two channels - first for pitch (carrier) and second for formant (modulator). Linus either extended the sound of carrier or double sync-modulated the speech ;)

I simply love this speech synthesis thingie in chip music! And yeah, I was thinking exactly what Conrad pointed out. Agemixer has been doing this stuff in 2002-2004. Not to underrate Linus' tune at all - it's great one and a worthy winner! The speech is very clear and understandable in this one, great work. Is it the first time all three channels are used for the speech simulation?

I've heard only one tune before the compo and it was Linus's. Guys have seen me dancing like an idiot but only I knew it will be a winner :) If I would do it - I would do every note exactly the same. Maybe the pick on JT lead theme sounds too rushed and you could spend few hours more at the party to polish it (btw. I always have a mini midi keyboard with me ;P ) but who cares! :) The spech synth can be done better (with the music editor and 1 frame) but what's more important (to me) is you continue to develop "the waterless" approach above dual tone, and this is one of the main developments to notice. Besides that, the groove and all is just fucking cool :D 11/10

can i downvote this please? nah, my fav from the compo. finally you made it, well deserved. catchy in every way, slick sounddesign and some non-usual moments made this an instant winner - and randall got fucked, yeah! ;-P

if i may pick a downside... i didn't recognize the speech synth to actually say something until someone wrote about it. so... next time do it better dude. :-D :-* "ever" is more or less swallowed...

Not fan of uncomprehensible speech-like effects (coz everyone uses them and I don't coz coudln't get my ass to learn the technique of course.. ;) but the luxurious fat beat and clever arrange makes this tune a worth relistening.
