Since the discussion now circles around the necessity of this release, I need to add to my earlier comment: The question is not wether this is needed or not, but rather if it can be done or not. I think it's cool that it can be done and it has been done. Usefulness is irrelevant - most releases here have little or no relevance if you really think about it. And then again, for our little community they are very relevant.

Not your typical release this one and because of that, awesome. :)

@Xiny6581: If you're talking about the digi sample method, it uses Mahoney's single write 6-7bit digi method. But if you're talking about how the digi samples are generated, it basically uses a sort of wavetable softsynth with 3 channels, 256-byte wavetables and 16-step volume support. All I have to do is to map the ghost SID registers at $CF00 to the "wavetable synth" every VBlank.

I find this very interesting. I mean sure nothing too special about the digi samples, right - or did I miss something, right?
I mean as a composer and most of all sound designer this kind of things tickle that oddity nerve. No need to chainsaw creativity, just make a song about it :D

@Luca: I lost at 'Dr. RetroMengele' xD xD xD

Interesting proof of concept, still.

please behave and BTT everyone.

If you really want to debate whether other 8 bit home computers were better than C=64, comments are the wrong place to do so. Maybe even C(!)SDb is not the best choice for such debates (outcome predictable) but feel free to open forum thread here (or lemon or facebook...)

interesting prove-of-concept-wise

output is rather pretty much as underwhelming as I expected, though

Cool! I did something similar on VIC 20 in 2006: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeyxPCNu2TA

Nah, just added noise. Bad usage of the Oxymod/THCM imho.
I'll keep the normal tune.
Let the inferior computer deal with bad sid emulation, C64 can use its own.
