So, what are we using to make pics these days?
Howdy, everyone!
Let's say I am in a mood for getting my hands dirty with some pixels and I dont have anything handy to do so (my C64 is far, faaaar away from me in some forgotten, dusty closet)...
The question is, what tools are available out there for such suckerz as me? Ideally running on Mac OS X, but if not possible, could be for Windows 8 as well. If there's something that would work under some emulator, and could handle a mouse in sane way, that could do the job as well.
Oh, and so that the question wouldnt be too easy to answer, I'd love to be able to try out these new NUFLI (and other) wonders - but hey, HIRES/FLI should suffice ;)
Cheers, R.

What for? The main idea of Vic Editor is to be simple, functional and user friendly (as your great P1). Personally I don't need another NUFLI, but expanding picture to the borders is a nice idea (and maybe new standard for compo pics).

I see Isildur is doing a lot of PR here :D
According to the expectactions as Oswald said - it depends how fun it is and "dont get your hopes high I might get bored of it again before releasing anything."
The idea is VIC Display list, which is simple editor for each raster telling if you want to multiplex sprites, open borders, switch modes in that particular line with simple checkboxes.
Then the code is automatically generated based on selections filled with NOPs, and if something's not possible then mark the line with red (eg. bad line sprites), so the painter knows that the selection of checkboxes is not possible.
Lot of coding definitely :)

deekay suggested this tho years go, sprites anywhere, borders, change vic registers. Would be pretty cool, frankly. I've played with the idea, but too lazy to implement a lazy vicII emulation :)

Using
Timanthes
for most bitmap modes like MC, HiRes, *FLI*,...
and
Pro Motion
for everything else like charmode, sprites, animation, ...
