Patching International Soccer for DTV (F5->DEL/LEFT/etc.)

I thought changing "F5" detection into one of the DTV keys should be very easy, because function keys are in the same column as DTV's A, B, C, D and second fire button, but the program does some strange things I don't understand, such as setting/resetting the carry flag and storing data in the ZeroPage. I'm definitely no expert, though.
Did anyone try?

Never mind, it doesn't even start on the DTV.
EDIT: Mind, the Commo-bam version works :)

Solution:

store $01 in $A53E
" $02 in $A555
" $04 in $A568

Then you can use A/B/C/D (F1/Del/Enter/Cursor Rt) instead of F1/F3/F5/F7.
