Multispeed tunes
I plan to make some mixes this Christmas (something like Bitjam Podcast :) )
First project will be based on multispeed tunes. Please recommend your favorites sids here. Second one will be "stereo SID mix". |

By the way, *shamelessselfpromotion*...
I did a Podcast in the same way you want to do some years ago with some multispeed tracks (and some sounds like multispeed but they aren't), i used a lot of good tracks, check it out...!!
Everything was made on a iMac using Logic Pro, SIDPlay and a original HardSID...
What i dislike at the remixes from Bitjam are the transitions, i hate it always to hear the same volume tarnsition so i tried it by my own with a different way recording only 1 channel to make transitions a bit better... The latest Podcast from me is the Jeroen Tel Podcast which were released on the Bitjam Podcast serie some time ago (#174 if i remember right)...
http://soundcloud.com/xenox-afl/fn-anthology-multispeedlikeedit
I used the following tracks...
Unsound Minds 1 - Juha-Matti "AMJ" Hilpinen
Happy Hip Hop - Hein "Hein Design" Holt
Remote - Glenn Rune "GRG" Gallefoss
Rubicon - Jeroen "JT" Tel
8th Frame - Soren "Jeff" Lund
Club 69 - Glenn Rune "GRG" Gallefoss
Huffa Megg - Glenn Rune "GRG" Gallefoss
Double Speed - Jens-Christian "JCH" Huus
12 Speed Time - Soren "Jeff" Lund
Fading Away - Glenn Rune "GRG" Gallefoss
Cave of Rave - Soren "Jeff" Lund
Zu Ende - Andor "DOS" Cseh
Andagt - Anders "Duck Larock" Daugard
Crest Main A - Soren "Jeff" Lund
Singing Cows Tune 3 - Arne Puszelski
Dork Slentriand - Anders "Duck Larock" Daugard
Double Shit - Mariusz "Ramos" Rozwadowski
Anal'ogue - Soren "Jeff" Lund
Trible Speed Tune - Morten "MSK" Kristensen
Reflection - Kai "PVCF" Walter
Monte Carlo 2017 - Sascha "Linus" Zeidler
Elsdyrat Roland - Soren "Jeff" Lund
Muza do Dema - Wojciech "Shogoon "Radziejeski
Digital Madness Intro - Guy Shavitt
Spring Pop - Soren "Jeff" Lund
Have phun...!

BTW. Here's a c64 recording of my "Anal'ogue"
with the filters that my own SID chip used for this tune has.
http://www.6581.dk/mp3/C64_recordings/Jeff%20-%20Analogue.mp3
And for the sake of it, this 4-speed tune was actually done as multispeed just for the sake of it. Not too much in it requires multispeed, but does give a few nice things here and there. And today I am still wondering why I did some of the sounds like I did... like too filtered snare, etc.

As you can see, Jeff, i like your music... ;)
Your multispeed tracks are awesome, really great stuff on all SID's...
Your are right, not all tracks in this podcast are multispeed but they were perfect for that podcast to make a good transition between the tracks....

Wackee, i have listened to your remix and the used tracklist is amazing, the one and only thing i personally dislike is that lame "volume" transition everytime
!
If i read everything correct, you played it live, well, ofcourse, it's hard to make different transitions then, i know
!
I made a live performance of my JT Remix, too in Oberhausen/Germany last year at the Retro meeting and pre-mixed everything and the effects were played live, the only thing for me to get more vibes into the music and to have different transitions, maybe a idea for your next gig
;)
https://vimeo.com/42144902
or on soundcloud ofcourse

Xenox, first of all this is not a remix, but a mix-set. Remix is when you take a track and reengineer it.
Then, what you call 'lame volume transitions' is a proper DJ mixing for the people on the dancefloor. I have been playing in the clubs for 16 years now (and I mean NORMAL music and NORMAL clubs, not scene people who do not dance :D), so I really do not comprehend why anyone would call it lame. I think you do not understand how such mix is supposed to be, and I cannot help you there. Maybe you should go to a club sometime ;)
And if you'd really listen to the mix, you would hear how much additional sounds, loops and effects are added there. Certainly more than adding street sounds and/or reverb to the beginning of the track. Check the Shogoon's track - it has freaking VOCALS in my mix!!! Or check 'Tonight We Murder' in the database and then listen to what's in the mix.
I listened to your 'set' and believe me, what you did is much easier, when you don't do the beatmatching and you don't have to keep harmonies intact when laying tracks over each other. And second thing, it would be a disaster in the club, because you make beatless transitions too long. It does not work when people are dancing. It makes people leave for a drink at the bar ;)
Yet, I still wouldn't call your mixset as 'lame'. That's the difference. |

Wackee, he calls volume transitions lame, not your work, apart from that, nice argument. I like arguments, they usually have some educational value.
And yes, those transitions in Xenox's thing aren't suitable for dancing, but was it a purpose of that mix? |

Yep, you got it, i never said anything bad about the remix itself, i don't like the volume transitions, that's all..! Oh sorry, it's a mix-set
Forgive me
;)
Wackee
Sorry for not being a pro musician and REMIXER as you 're, i'm just a little guy who want to make some music without knowing the remixer scene, dance scene or any other scene, sorry for blaming you with my lame and easy remix
!
I do not want to waste your time again, you as a pro musician need every minute to make first class dancefloor remixes...!
Shame on me

CreaMD, you are right. Damn you! ;)
Xenox, let's agree that we like different flavours in our (re)mixes. I'm a bit touchy on the word 'lame', so maybe I misread your comment a bit as disrespectful. On the other hand, my reply can be (and has been) perceived accordingly by you, whereas there was also no such intent ;)
So, following Roman's wise spirit ;) let's not enter 2014 with bad blood.
All the best to you in 2014 and may we both have opportunity to find joy and satisfaction in doing our own things :) |

Wackee, i'm sure you understood everything correct so i'm not in the mood to say okay, it is so, your answer was so arrogant to me which tells me:
I'm the master of (re)mix-sets, others can't do them as good as i can, i allow no critic on my work...!
It is so, go you way, i'm going my way... |
