Transparent submitting

In the last few days there have been several new, very incomplete entries, like cracks with only a name, a demo with a name & screenshot but no group etc. Appearantly these have been added by people who either don't understand the system, or don't care.

Since I know that it's possible for a select few (the staff, some 'trusted' visitors) to see who has added what, I'm wondering why this information isn't public. I realize we had a similair discussion when it came to the voting, but in this case the biggest argument against that (people who were afraid to vote because others might get angry with them) doesn't hold ground.

Unless ofcourse you're stupid enough to add just a name and nothing else, in which case you should burn in hell :)

Quote: Or, users known to submit correct information could add releases unmoderated.

I second that! ;)

Accurate information should be the main goal in any database.

I dont see any use for transparant voting, besides pointing fingers, which does not solve anything.

But a second opinion sort of routine could maybe help get the minimum amount of info. This would create a que list though, with releases waiting to be accepted by the second opinion.

Oh.. how about the locked entries?

Before opening another thread I think I continue here, even if my question/request only halfway fits in here:

Perff, could you add that disk icon to the list of own additions on the userpage? I'd like to verify if I added download links to all of them. Sometimes you get interrupted, you know, and forget to add the download link later on.

EDIT: Well, on second thought that question doesn't fit at all in here... ;-)

transparent submitting would be nice, and is much more needed than transperent voting (voting is a gimmick anyway).

as for locked entries, it would be very nice if i could have a list of ppl that i trust which automatically become maintainers of everything i lock. that would save a lot of work.

and there should also be some kind of mechanism that lets locked entries "expire" if someone else requests "editing rights" (or whatever you call it) on a certain entry via PM on csdb, and doesnt get an answer (not necessarily actual rights to edit) within a certain timeframe. that would prevent entries from beeing locked permanently and no further chance for anyone else to edit them.

Don´t know if this is hard to implement..

Maybe it ought to be impossible to lock anything that only has a filename and group-credits,but no download-link?

I am not surprised when someone has a file, but the entry is locked,to simply forget about trying to add it.

yeah, making the locking mechanism more selective would be another good idea. eg for sceners, only lock "personal" info. for releases, only prevent info from beeing deleted/changed, but make it possible to add anything that is missing.... etc
