Hey Everyone, please PM me your email address if you would like to be able to vote on the C64GFX.com CharSet Logo Compo 2024! As mentioned earlier, this compo will be voted on separate to CSDb - the CSDb scoring system doesn't apply.
We have something very cool to try out with the voting - I can't wait to see how it goes :-)
ALSO, please ensure that your entry is grouped correctly on CSDb and on C64GFX.com. Any that are in "Out of Compo" that shouldn't be, please change to match others. If you're not sure, just set "C64 Graphics" and I'll fix it for you. If you're in "Out of Compo", I have to assume that that's by choice.......... |

UPDATED RULES:-
1) we will now allow 6 (SIX) entries per person;
2) entries will be split into 4 (FOUR) categories - "MultiColour and Mixed", "HiRes", "PETSCII" and "ECM". Please tag appropriately on CSDb. I'm open to suggestions on how best to do this .. the "compo" dropdown of course doesn't have the right categories.............. but on C64GFX.com I'll tag everything appropriately ahead of voting.

| Sounds good, if we can do 4 entries instead of 3, so we can experiment with 1 entry per category. Or multiple entries in a single category. Though the scoring will get skewed, I guess. |

@Wile: D800 data just needs to be static. No animation allowed on the logo.
Re: PETSCII.. we’ve been talking about splitting PETSCII, Hires, MC/Mixed and ECM into different categories … and then the prize going to whoever scores highest across all the categories. If there are no strong objections to that, we’ll do it. |

'$D800 colour data'
Does this mean:
Background color, multi color 1, multi color 2 remain fixed,
while 4th remaining char color can be switched through the the usual black, white, red, cyan, green, yellow, magenta, cyan. |

A separate PETSCII Logo Compo would have made more sense. |

| for ppl needing to convert to their logo to chars, png2prg 1.4 can do that for you (mixed mode is *not* supported tho, but pure hires or mc will work just fine). |

| ECM Mode will now be allowed - since there are so many asking about it. Hope to see some good use of it from those asking! (it means you only get 64 chars though - no raster tricks so you can't be turning it off half way down the logo ;p). |

| I was thinking of entering with a large font built up of repeating characters, but some of my ideas would be impossible to show without scrolling, as each letter takes up half or more of the screen in height. Are these allowed and how should I present them, please? |

THE RULES*:
- All entries must be original and never used/released before.
- All entries must use a single charset (256 unique chars or less)†.
- Charset can be either user-created or PETSCII.
Hires, Multi-Colour or a mixture (through $D800 colour data) can be used.
- NO ECM, sprites, rasters, scrolling, colour animation, border opening, etc.
- Must include an actual readable logo - ie. a word, words and/or digits.
- Entries should be provided as both PRG/D64/T64 and PNG/GIF/BMP.
- A maximum of 3 entries per participant.
* - if there are glaring omission(s) in the rules we reserve the right to fix them**.
** - please let us know before spending time making some "edge-case" logo ;p
† - use CharPad, PIXCEN or other to verify the number of unique chars.
SUBMISSIONS:
- All entries should be submitted before 30st April 2024 23:59:59CET.
- Workstages not required but feel free to send them if you have them.
- They will be posted online as soon as we can after we receive them (PEPTO palette).
- You are more than welcome to post the logo elsewhere.
VOTING:
- Voting will run from 1st to 14th May 2024, ending at 23:59:59CET.
- C64GFX.com will host the voting form.
- Restricted to those we can verify as known C64 people (NOT just demosceners).
- Votes will be made PUBLIC - so think carefully if you plan strategic up/down-voting!
- Instructions will be released late-March to ensure everyone is ready.
RESULTS:
- Results will be announced not too long after voting closes.
- Scores will be determined using squared averages.
PRIZES:
- There are no prizes ... but we will send certificates to entrants.
