came here from Artificial Intelligence which features a similar bitmap splitter effect as this little demo does.

and wow! this bitmap splitter is a world's first and such a seemingly effortless type of effect that i suspect a lot of people will fail to appreciate it. the discussion here: Release id #171267 : Did you miss us? does provide some insight into how complex this thing really is, but even with this explanation i'm pretty sure a lot of people will miss how cool this is.

it is such a nice combination of a clever vic trick and pure brute-force. i would suspect that most would attempt to go at this from either the vic trick side or the brute-force side, and would end up failing right in the middle. but figuring out that you should do both the badline trick and actually brute-force the copying is the key.

very very cool!

(also, if someone wants to take a shortcut and watch this on youtube, here is a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaLGObQRmNs - this entry is locked so i can't add it the proper way)
