Stein, maybe not god, but when it comes to C64 composers he's quite high on my list :) | User Comment Submitted by Kristian on 11 August 2010
Linus: No worries, nothing wrong with your tune, it was just the comparison below I reacted to.
Abaddon: Both quality and style. I can (of course) see why this tune is being compared to Follin (and I'm not talking about just the name), but I think this tune lacks a lot of the musicality, originality, complexity, drama and atmosphere that Follin put into his tunes. I like this tune, and I love the instruments, but without the typical Follin instruments and some of his almost signature sequences, would you even think of Follin at all? | User Comment Submitted by Stone on 11 August 2010
This is cool. Reminds me more of the style of Yip than that of Tim Follin, really. To some people Follin is God, apparently. To me, not so much. Yip, on the other hand.. Crazy genius! | User Comment Submitted by abaddon on 11 August 2010
Kristian, are you talking about not being comparable style-wise or quality-wise? For me it does resemble Follin's music a lot. It's easy to lose perspective when you're comparing new stuff to something that's been around for decades... The old and familiar often gets more credit than it might deserve. I've been playing this song for several days now and it's as intriguing as the best tunes in Ghouls'n'Ghosts soundtrack. But then again, maybe that's not what you meant :P | User Comment Submitted by Linus on 11 August 2010
Quote:... but the rest is not at all compareable with Tim Follin It wasn´t my intention to compose something that resembles Tim Follin´s style at all. The chord progressions and time sigs are way different than anything he ever did. Cheap trick to use a title like "girls´n ghosts ..." to draw some attention, i must confess tho =) | User Comment Submitted by Kristian on 11 August 2010
Not a chance in hell, abaddon. The instruments in this one are great, but the rest is not at all compareable with Tim Follin. | User Comment Submitted by abaddon on 11 August 2010
As good as anything the Follins did. | User Comment Submitted by Archmage on 20 April 2008
This is just excellent and daring. | User Comment Submitted by Linus on 25 December 2007
@2F: Funnily enough I never really listened to Geoff's music but I do spot some similarities to Aiginas Prophecy now that you mention it. Maybe. | User Comment Submitted by Dr.Voice on 25 November 2007
Awesome tune! My favourite in this competition. 10/10 | User Comment Submitted by Orcan on 24 November 2007
Not a love for at first sight. But when I listened it more times it bubbled to my top 10. | User Comment Submitted by Burglar on 24 November 2007
my #1 as well, even when I didn't took the effort to vote ;) | User Comment Submitted by psych on 22 November 2007
Excellent. Looking forward to working with you Sascha! :) | User Comment Submitted by ZZAP69 on 22 November 2007
Lovely Follin-styled sounds and a really intresting melody. My #1 in this competition! | User Comment Submitted by Twoflower on 22 November 2007
No, Linus goes Geoff Follin...
And does it damned well. | User Comment Submitted by Ed on 22 November 2007 User Comment Submitted by dalezy on 22 November 2007
i'm somewhat disappointed about the unbelievably bad ranking for this one.
i don't think it's a matter of taste we're talking here, quality-wise this one is way ahead of most of the tunes.
