What can I say.. my comment of "a serious case of bah" just reminded me of a good friend who always used the phrase. I do miss you Aaron, wish I could move past the previous events of our lives.. Just seemed unfair to me... 7 years is a long time to push someone away, considering we've known each other over 18 of those years...
We've been good to each other our whole lives, why would you think I would do something like that to you?! I, for one, know, if I had asked, you would have given.... I am at a loss without you in my life... Crazy as that sounds.. I simply miss your crazy antics and maths.. We were good together... I was hurt over the whole thing....
I've always trusted you Beak... I don't care for how you didn't trust me..... | User Comment Submitted by Testa on 18 December 2009
nice release, this is one of those demos witch doesn't use really advanged stuff but still you can see and feel the oldschool passion and fun behind it.
yep. i like it...

I'm going to have to say at this point that I am proud of my page, not because it's anything new or advanced to anyone else, but because (like in my other releases) it represents several firsts for me...as stated in my scroll, I figured out how to do split color/raster bars, and discovered how to blow away $d020 on a line and open the border, after doing an FLD to remove bad lines. This happened quickly for me due to a lot of generous people, and having Fungus' code available to study. Unlike others I've seen recently, I didn't just rip his stuff and take credit, I actually studied it until I understood it and was able to write custom stable VIC IRQ's for my own routines. I simply won't conform to the apparent NTSC tradition of placing self-deprecating comments in scroll texts and other locations. I'll admit mistakes, like my goof of forgetting to clear one of my two screen rams in "Happy Birthday TP". And I admit I'm a beginner/intermediate coder with a lot to learn from my many mentors, but I won't put down my own work and lower the bar for the North American scene to the point where an ant couldn't limbo underneath it.
I wanted to have a larger greets list which included all my friends and associates, but I ran out of memory. I will certainly be compiling a large greets text for future releases.
I really appreciate the amount of attention we've gotten from everyone for this impromptu work. | User Comment Submitted by The Phantom on 26 October 2009
@Saehn: This was one of those "hey, let's do a halloween demo" thingies. The "real" demo is yet to come and hopefully it'll be something we can all enjoy.

n1 dudes!
good to finally see this one instead of talking about it ;) | User Comment Submitted by saehn on 25 October 2009
Congrats, FOE... Phantom, was expecting this to be a different surprise from you, but maybe that one is still in progress! :-) (Oops, had written Shadow instead of Phantom) | User Comment Submitted by The Phantom on 25 October 2009
@Thunderbolt: The "converted" pumpkin was carved. The real pumpkin sits on a wall in the backyard. The eyes/nose/mouth had serious problems converting so I had to pixel those by hand. I haven't tried converting the other 6 pumpkins that my wife and I carved, I figured 1 was enough :D
The music issue here is likely related to someone watching this on PAL instead of NTSC. While the parts may load up in PAL, they won't play correctly.
Again, as stated in my original post, this is an NTSC release, please take note of it..
@Self: I've been thinking of a handle change.. Crabby Coder :D | User Comment Submitted by tbolt on 25 October 2009
Pretty good, the converted pumpkin came out nice. Five NTSC releases in the span of five weeks, now *that* is a bit creepy. | User Comment Submitted by plagueis on 25 October 2009
@Kickback: Correct.
Plus it is obvious that the VIC effects are broken in PAL mode. The day that I can watch most of my favorite PAL demos...EoD, DMO/Unbounded, 3DEH, etc on my NTSC hardware is the day I'll make sure all my demos work perfectly PAL and NTSC. Until then, my priority is just learning to code. It's nice to see something like Dawnfall/Oxyron which is NTSC fixed however...but it's rare. Quite rare, and I can't watch about 90% of my favorite prods on my 64. I plan on getting a PAL c64 and monitor soon, and adding that to my arsenal of tools. | User Comment Submitted by Kickback on 25 October 2009
very nice!!!
Can't wait for the demo ;)
Dalezy: the music most likely plays slower in Pal mode because it runs faster in NTSC mode which from what DP said they slowed it down in NTSC mode.
I'm assuming this is the issue from what it sounds like.

da1ezy: I just played "Focus on Food" on sp2w on PAL mode...the speed sounds extremely close (if not the same) as it does on our demo release running in NTSC mode. I would not intentionally misrepresent your excellent work here. It has also been run extensively (as usual) on my NTSC Commodore 64 and plays at the correct speed.
Perhaps you mistakenly watched the demo in PAL mode. | User Comment Submitted by dalezy on 24 October 2009
"focus on food" is playing in half of its intended speed, i hope that's not related to this one being a ntsc-release? =) | User Comment Submitted by The Shadow on 24 October 2009
Nice to see a new NTSC release. Where have all the Japanese sceners gone? | User Comment Submitted by grennouille on 24 October 2009
NTSC?! Yes!!!!!! ... Halloween! | User Comment Submitted by The Phantom on 24 October 2009
A happy Halloween to almost everyone!
This is an NTSC release (creepy right?). |
