10/10 for the sky effect and an even bigger 10/10 for the ghost-byte-twiddle-per-rasterline scrollers!

Cruzer for president!

My cup of sky! Incredibly beautiful, but how is it done? I *hope* this effect will be mimicked a lot in the future.

Probably the coolest effect I have ever seen on the C64. Thumbs up!

Breathtaking effect to see on the '64. Interestingly enough on the Turbo Chameleon the Camelot logo looks broken as it jumps (like the offset to the charset is misaligned) but on the 1541u2 it works fine.

Last crack in 2019, those readymades from sites, shareware without gold we see each day here at CSD & b.
Done by this one and that one, even "supported by", "submitted by", "supplied by!" mostly inside scene...

This Intro however is the best gold you will hold. Made from heart, knowledge and soul.

You really had me in a painfully deep moment of sprite doubt there. You deserve a medal and a cigar for that cloud effect, though!

@Didi: yeah, since this is meant for fun & glory only I agree with you that people should enter the compo anyway and not get discouraged. but the 2 best intros at ICC 2016 or what was the year reached 9.4, this one will finish very close to 10. prove me wrong, but 1st place is taken I'm afraid...

@Copyfault: Definitely a goal to strive for.
@Groepaz: Yes, and a sideborder version is even more impossible.
@Compyx: You should have seen my other attempts. :)
@Hammerfist: It follows the logo. Otherwise it would require the gfx pattern to move independently of the logo, which definitely doesn't seem like a 16K effect to me.
@Don Kichote, psych858o & Bob: Maybe we should consider that. :)
@Carrion & Adam: My lips are sealed.
@Dwangi: Of course, it's just rastercolors cycled through a pattern.
@PopMilo: Experimentation and fine-tuning ftw.
@Stinsen: Yeah, nice "debut" :)

No reason to throw the towel. I remember Intro Creation Competition 2016 where the race for number 1 was quite close. I am looking forward to more great entries. :)

Yes!. I should state that its IMPOSSIBLE to make more impressing unexpanded border scroller!
User Comment
Submitted by Copyfault on 28 November 2018
This is an absolute fantastic combination of brain'n'eye-candies!!!

Brings me to the following "plan": Cruzer, you and Clarence should continue with exactly such coding elegance - it *must* reanimate xbow sooner or later :)

Nothing more to add - everything has been said! Awesome Intro!
User Comment
Submitted by Smasher on 28 November 2018
@Bob: there are 3 amazing effects in this 16K intro (ok, 2.5 effects... logo going in the upper logo is cool but not that jaw dropping for me). so you can call it a condensed CML-demo :)
User Comment
Submitted by Bob on 28 November 2018
Somebody have been working hard here ;) so where is the Camelot demo that should have been released for X ;) I am also getting desperate for a CML demo.

Wow. This is Awesome!
User Comment
Submitted by Compyx on 28 November 2018
Great! The sprite font is real ugly though, but I suspect you use $3fff masking, which limits what you can do with the font a lot.
Sweet effect in the logo.

Thanks for this very inspirational sky.

Submitted by Hammerfist on 27 November 2018
I like how the scroller read my mind just as I was trying to figure out if it really looking like it wasn't smooth :)

The cloud effect is the star of this intro, I love it!

Only thing I wonder about, because it irks me an is definitely the only possible negative thing I could find here: Does the effect move up and down with the logo or not? It kind of looks like it might, and I would have preferred that it didn't, but at least a 9/10!

Surprisingly enough the border scroll looks almost the same in motion without the idle byte masking... :)

Thanks y'all! Really appreciate it.

Raistlin: Lots of trial'n'error. When I had done the scrollers, I needed to fill the screen with something. I had plenty of rastertime left, so my kneejerk reaction was a multicolor logo with rastercolors in each color. Since we don't have any active graphicians, I just made one with a random font, and added a pattern with a KickAss script. Then I experimented with different patterns, rastercolors and sine movements, all of which looked pretty unoriginal. But then I stumbled on a sine movement where the bars got progressively closer, which combined with a sloping pixel pattern gave it kind of a parallax look. Then I went for a plain perspective for the rasters, and did a lot of fine-tuning until I arrived at something that looked like a sky.

I tried a lot of fonts and even some attemts to hand draw a logo, which were all pretty ugly. But then Soren suggested one called Helicopta, which was italics. I first checked that I could do the italics with D016 while making the spikes at the bottom look somewhat hires. And then I experimented with rounding some of the corners, and found some cases where the D016 displacement could be used for making the rounding look hires too. Btw, the D016-stuff isn't vital for the "sky" effect, which looks almost the same without it.

So yeah, trial'n'error ftw. :)

One of the coolest colour shifters ever! (unless it's totally different effect) I only take one point because of overall screen appeal/design. Cool tune for a debut!

@Digger - Camelot stencil is not hires ;)

Fantastic! Really nice work. Very clever trickery going on in the top/bottom borders, very cool idea.

The cloud effect, too, wow. I've looked at how it's done (thanks, C64 Debugger) and have to ask: did you know what this was going to look like when you started? Because seeing the "pieces", I never could've imagined that it would look as awesome as it does!

10/10 from me.
