Questions from a complete MMC Reply+RR Net n00b
Yeah, that would be me then.
I get these error messages:
In WarpCopy: No reply from 192.168.1.64:6644. What's wrong?
On the MMC Replay: I press F1 to start filebrowsing. Screen just quickly flashes and I'm still at the main menu.
Can someone please explain what I need to do to get this working. And write like your explaining to a five year old.
OKTHXBYE! |

Indeed it looks like a network issue.
Some c64/c64c/sx-64/c128 have serious issues with RR-Net, even with the improved timing stuff done on the MMC-Replay.
In my exp. very old C64 and SX-64 are most prone to this. Graham is the only one I ever know of who reported issues with a C128D - and this was with RetroReplay and not MMC-Replay, right?
When you press F6 in TFR and it says:
Codenet:
RR-Net found. CS8900A Revision D
This is where it is "listening" and you should be able to "Send Server" from WarpCopy.
If this fails, you have shitty Network or hit a bug in WarpCopy (yes Graham, that "can" happen ;-) )
To get an "idea" of the stability of the whole thing you can do a:
ping 192.168.1.64 -t
from your pc, when you have pressed F6 in TFR and the BASIC screen says:
Codenet:
RR-Net found. CS8900A Revision D
Let the ping run for some minutes and review the results. There should NOT be any "Request timed out" messages... well one or two over a 2 minute period "can" happen, but if every 2nd or 3rd ping gives "Request timed out", you have a serious issue. |

Im sure the "blue" squares came after the entire disks was
transfered. First run gives black, red, yellow and green
squares. Then afterwors u might get blue...
I had similar problems if a disks was very dirty. Solution for
me was to clean the drive head (sometimes again and again) to
get a disk transfered. An 1541-II model is much easier to use,
since u can clean the head while transfering easier than with
the 1541-I models.

The blue boxes still appear. If I open and close the drawer, the reader stops when open and starts again after a while when closed.
What could wrong with my network setup if I can transfer a disk the slow way? I got the RR-Net and my PC connected to a router. The C64 is the C64C.
How can I check if I use a PAL or NTSC setup?
With "ping 192.168.1.64 -t" I *only* get "Request timed out". How can I fix this? |

Does the blue-boxes come in "first" run ?
--- probably no, so what color did the boxes have before they
turned blue ?
And did u try to clean the drive-head ?

Hey Mads,
I did not clean the head yet. But do I really need to do that when I can load programs on the C64 without problems and when I can transfer disks at slow speed.
Before they turn blue, they're red. The first 4-5 something fill in quickly, but the other takes forever. |

Try to clean the head, and keep "cleaning" it until the head
remains clean... if u still have the problem, then I could
suspect your drive to have a problem with "fast-speed", in
that case, please try to transfer the disk in "slow-speed"
and tell us if u get same results.
Alternatively try to use another drive to see if that gives
same results.
