you can grab a RR+RR-Net at Vesalia store (.de)

for 1541U you need to wait for the next production batch, check the Gideon's page for news...

cheers

Vesalia are showing no stock for the Replay (though you can get the RR-Net expansion). Anyway, I did manage to get one off Ebay so I'm sorted now.

But I do want a 1541u too :)

I was hoping someone might want to get rid of their old 1541u seeing as there's a new one due out. If anyone is in this position, pm me - I have lots of cash waiting :)

I really should get a 1541u myself, aswell. Just gotta kick my own arse and order one.
Neil: I'm hoping you're considering doing some sid music again. I'll be fun - more and more people from the "older" c64 days seem to return. One can still get that great feeling about doing c64 stuff. :-)

That's my intention Jeff :)

Geir has been giving me SDI classes via MSN but up to now only on emulator.

Picked up a bread bin off Ebay so I just need the Replay/1541u to get going.

I'm actually pretty excited about the idea of writing something on the SID again.

Huddersfield? That's Psy's old stomping ground (Psy & Mat). Wasn't there was he? :)

Heh, no pressure eh? :)

I'm making no promises but I'm having fun tinkering with SDI at the moment.

I've had to give myself a refresher course - I'd forgotten what most of the registers do.

As I said, Geir has been awesome, giving me lots of SDI help but it's kind-of frustrating using it in VICE (lag, sound not so great - on MacBook/OSX). I've got a Replay on the way so I should at least be able to get SDI running on the proper hardware.

Thanks for all your enthusiasm though, much appreciated :)

Neil, make sure you use a recent build of VICE from lallafa:
http://lallafa.de/files/vice/snapshots/

Also you might want to change the sound buffer size in the Settings->Sound dialog to something lower than the default (unfortunately 100ms is the best you'll get).

Or you might just use Goattracker and save your sanity... :)

Let me know if you need any help!

It seems running at anything below 300ms causes audio stalling so I've no option but to leave it at 350ms :(

I'll try that latest build though, thanks.

Yeah I've got Goattracker but I think (from what little I know at this point) SDI has the edge on it. Plus it's always better on the proper hardware ;)

Ah, that latest snapshot build of VICE is a lot better. The older one crashed if I set the sample rate to anything but 22k but the new one lets me set it to 44k and seems fairly stable with 100ms buffer.

It's been awfully quiet around the 1541u lately, you can pre-order ofcourse, but I wonder how long it will take...

Just a few days ago you couldn't even pre-order, so I choose to take this as a good sign.
