This demo is a real gem. Jeff's tune is heavenly. The code is an impossible poetry. These Kefrens, man, how could this even be done? Bobs are insane. Plots are out of the C64 world. The zoomer is amazing and that sparkling-flashy fade it just beautiful.

And I like the snail girl, quite arty and reminds me of some Amiga demos. The Camelot logo also kicks ass.

Almost ten years later, still a great demo. Found this thanks to Mibri demo show. Extra points for the 4-Mat music.

If the images in betweens had been of really high quality and glue this demo together it would rank among the absolutely best demos ever. I just can not believe the smoothness of king smooth... I meen it is just perfect code, never a frame skipped and sinuses made so it always stay so much more lubed than all others... music is also super... I love the score on the end part the most.

Soren (Jeff), Your song is totally awesome (reminds me the good old times of demoscene). Cruzer, your part with bobs looks like out of this world. Excellent stuff. Waiting for more.

Some mindblowing parts but WAY TOO SHORT. The guys at Camelot realized that too and even apologized for it. Put your back into it guys, you are capable of greatness! ;)

Just had to watch this demo again, and - it still amaze me what you managed to do in fullscreen effects with multicolor bitmaps/charsets or whatever it is. Amazing!

Damn there is a lot of talk about me here bob here and bobs everywhere ?? 8)=)
I enjoyed our talk at X-2012 where I got a full story behind the name of pimp my snail ;) love this demo.. ;) pitty that you didn't compete with a demo at X :(

Awesome stuff! I like it very much. No blocky effects.

How did I miss it?! Splendid, jawdropping effects and ideas. The only gripe is crude linking but I assume that it's not the Cruzer's biggest concern ;)

Both the bobs and the stencil part were incredibly beautiful. The stencil one also had an "out of C64" impression, you know what I mean.

This could be easily the winner of the compo and could have a throne in hearts for a long time, had it been a bit longer and "more complete".

All in all, very innovative and fresh effects on C64 in a long time. Congratulations!

unlimited bobs owned, and some of the textures (the second, black pearls especially) are amazing.
I can only imagine what Hal would have done with it.

also, the only demo without a shiftlock to hold option, and the only one that really should have had it :P
(shiftlock sucks btw, doesnt wok in vice)

Very nice fresh ideas and smooth looking FX, loved the bob part and the whatever-it-was behind the spritepattern! GFX aren't anything to write home about though, just converted stuff that looks like done by coders! ;-)

Edit: I'm really happy that Jeff's fantastic tune gets some proper exposure in a real demo, i just love it! Also, a shame that the demo ends so abruptly after the dot-part...

This was also my favourite of the bunch presented at LCP, one reason being the impressive effects, but most importantly the fast pace at how they were shown. I also love the snail-theme and just generally a demo which sends out positive vibes. :)

I don't mind the reuse of Jeff's tune, it was one of the musical highlight moments for me from LCP, along with those cool effects. As a freshman in the C64-scene, I probably couldn't have had a better introduction to Cruzer's democoding skills. :D

What a nice bunch of effects! I always thought the bob idea could be explored more, and I'm happy that here we have a decent improvement! More! And the hexagone effect made my jaw drop.

I kinda agree with skate that graphic quality, linking and transitions are not supporting these beautiful effects, however the joy of seeing Biz Kid back in business is dominant. Jesper, you're not forgotten!

The same of course goes to Duck LaRock!

Awesome work mate! You've got a gift of creating effects that while are not super hard code-wise, they look amazingly good (remember the flood filled vectors from produkt handler? :) ). At the same time you also have a gift for some extremely hardcore routines like the 1536 plots.
Damn, you're a complete player like the football experts say :)

I was waiting for this demo for a long long time. Here it is and I'm happy. :)

First of all, colorful kefrens bars, smart usage of unlimited bobs, 1536(!!!) dots and specially that weird hexagon parts blew me away. But... Unfortunately graphic quality, linking and transitions are not supporting these beautiful effects.

WE WANT MORE!!!

Pheu, finally got to see the demo back home, and nothing has changed other than the fact that i'm sure it's not an Amiga i'm using :). I realize that perhaps some of these effects are not totally impossible to do, but you have managed to make them alot more beautiful than anyone else before.

That is actually something that is true for many of the recent CML-releases, they are all amazingly beautiful!! Last time i thought i was watching an Amiga-demo, then it was the CML-demo at X-10. Now just slap Slammer's as a few more times, and he will also contribute with 3-4 parts and you will beat the shit out of everyone else at X-12 :).

The zoomer part with the colors in the back was one of my favorites, the bobs is also excellent. :)
Gotta love the kefrens bars aswell. A great demo, its cool to see that Camelot strikes back !

Damnit, there goes my dot record!
Had a little peek in the code, and couldn't find any ORAs in there, so I'm guessing there is some kind of dirty precalc magic going on! :)

Unlimited bobs was THE jawdropper effect of whole LCP for me, the first few seconds I didn't realize it was an 'unlimited' routine and went W...T....F??!?
How many frames are you using, it must be way more than any other unlimited bob routine I've ever seen, since this looks so damn good!

yes! brilliant looking effects. one would like to bang his head against a wall to find out if hes still in c64 world ;-) the only thing which spoils the overall impression just a tiny bit, is the graphics in this demo (except for the bob-textures). i like the fact that bizkid is back (yo buddy) - but i know you can do much better. this looks all too wired (no witch hunt here, its just my personal taste, i dont really want to start a discussion) - and those great effects deserve love in all other aspects of the demo - too. anyways, most beautiful effects in the compo, good flow, good music... bizkid is back, what do i want much more. cant wait for the next release from the camels (hopefully at x'12?)

Wow, that effects looked amazing on the bigscreen and still look amazing here at home. Interesting how much one can squeeze out of old effects just with optimizations, adding more frames, better colors and perfect movements like in the endless bobs. The stencil zoomer looks amazing (I think the term is not correct, because it looks like more than just a stencil mask, theres also some distortion based on the mask, right?). The 16-color kefrens bars are very interesting. This was the first effect I tried to code in 2004, when I started coding on C64 again after my break. And I failed. I have to take a closer look what compromises you took (Resolution, Size, Colors, whatever). I tried to stick to a 2x2 resolution which forced me to make the effect too small to look good, so I never released it. But seems you change the bars every 3 rasterlines and also the x-resolution is not changing color every pixel. Perfect compromise, it looks great. And thanks for bashing Shadow! This saves me some hours of work. ;o) Good version of the Effect and clever usage of sinustables. So, whos next?

The lighting and colour on the kefren bars looked so metallic.

Loved the infinite bobs routine, so well done and so dynamic with a such a large number of frames, it looked like it wasn't that routine at all.

And the zoomer behind the stencil looked amazing.

Contained my favourite effects from the compo.

Once again in total agreement with HCL. This was a knock-out! I'm a bit embarassed I failed to deliver the goods and fix that player for you but I guess this is what happens when you sleep too little and party too much. :P

I second Radiantx, i thought they had enabled Amiga-mode when starting this demo on the big screen :). The vertical rasterbars, the bobs and the zoomer-thing.. This was the only compo winner for me!! <3 <3 <3

The "Fly Eye" part was really great, and bobs! Above standard SID throughout, particularly Mr.Mogensen's end tune (fuck yeah!). Great to see CML back, Glasnost, Slammer, Cruzer... hump hump hump! :P

Finally a bigger CML release again! I never thought I will be impressed by an unlimited bob routine, but this one sent shivers down my spine seeing it for the first time (and I was only watching it on my 17'' screen). All in all a very solid production.
On, and btw I think Cheesion/Graffity won't like to see the bitmap kefrens bars. Seems like coders eventually get punished for holding back effects for many-many years. :)

Yup it was never a secret that, that particulary piccy was wired! It just fitted the snail theme!!

Cruzer and I just found the picture so strange, and as it followed the snailtheme (more or less) I decided to give it a go!

The many Bobs pt. looks genuinely amazing. The part that follows looks equally as fresh - 10/10
Audio is sounds great :)
Most of the graphics look ugly wired (sorry).

-

It’s difficult to decide which demo should have won LCP 2011.
The following 3 demos would have made my Top 3:

1991 - Booze Design
Pimp My Snail - Camelot
2011 A Press Space Odyssey  - Offence

If I was voting on one single effect that wowed me the most, then Pimp My Snail would be the winner with the many Bobs part. If I was voting on best mix of ideas and graphics, 2011 A Press Space Odyssey  would be winner. If I was voting on the best demo with the most amount of impressive parts, then 1991 would have been winner.
