Release id #63203 : Epilepsia II

Quoting Marauder/GSS
good job dear mods! *LOL*

Yes, CSDb moderation sucks ass! I have to disagree with Bordeaux coz I've seen Knoeki ignore advice, blow off help offered and simply not listen when several people have tried to teach...

More on the topic - I started learning Z80 assembly at the age of 12, which has made me the mastercoder I am today.

Meh... I learnt how to code, paint and make music while I was in embrional state. I've popped out of my mother and was ready to rule the scene immediately! Cope with that, suckers!

the reason I have ignored/refused advice sometimes is because it's pretty fucking confusing to have one thing explained in 5 different ways, which mostly ends in a discussion about which way is better... .. .

Also, maybe there should be a way to move certain comments to the forums.

I see no crusade, I just see shitty bickering. So, Knoeki released a demo that wasn't the world's greatest. That's ok, many of us have released stuff that can be considered pretty bad by our own standards, so it's nothing to persecute him for in itself. On the other hand he should really start listening to advice and criticism, instead of hiding behind excuses like "it was not meant to be serious". I know he can do much better than this.

Can we all move on now?

That is said to be the core of the problem...

So, simply put, you do agree with the "shitty bickering" despite labelling it like that? :)

I understand what is happening and why people react the way they do.
But I don't agree... there's a subtlety in my sentence.

Oh, no, it was meant for Radx.

I found the quote button this time :)

Pfff .. giving one's opinion on releases & people has always been a big part of this scene: hence all the charts, hence all the reviews, hence the possibility to rate stuff here.

Personally, I care because crap demos make me enjoy the scene less: I remember a time (over 10 years ago) when those 4x4 effects were the all the rage, it nearly made me give up completely.

Like I stated before: I'd rather see only 5 good demos released than 20 mediocre ones, let alone 50 bad ones ;) Quality over quantity.

Also once more: everybody is free to release what they want, sure. But others (like me) are as free to slag it down if it sucks.

And don't forget: I've been on the 'receiving' end of such criticism many times myself (and much, much harder than Knoeki received here). And yet, I'm still here, it didn't scare me away - and neither do I expect Knoeki to run, just because we don't like his demo.

And if he does, he never was a true scener anyway.

I agree with most of the opinions, not with their ferocity and way of presentation. I will not say any more in this discussion; I have already paid it far more attention than it deserves. :-(
