The Mibri C64 Demoshow

Hello everyone,

I thought I should start a thread here so I can post details whenever I'm planning to do a Twitch stream of C64 demos played on real hardware. We had a great time during the one I hosted last week!

I will be doing another one tomorrow (Tuesday 14 April) night at 1930 UK time (2030 CEST), playing a few releases from Revision 2020 alongside lots of other great C64 demos, intros, etc.

Find me at https://www.twitch.tv/mibric64/ - cheers!

I'm a bit sad that Camel Park was broken off prematurely with a reset (at least 2 parts still to come after that, including Glasnost's other masterpiece in that demo).

Last Traktor III for the second time, but it's a nice demo.

Also the show tends to get shorter each time, or is that a misconception?

It has been 20:30-23:00 CET a few times now. It's actually been better for me, not ending too late. Now on vacation I wouldn't mind it going on for longer from time to time.
You just need to keep the requests coming krill. ;)

Sorry about missing the end of Camel Park - yes, I forgot about some nice stuff there.

I think I've played a small handful of demos twice now for the purposes of satisfying requests; some people aren't able to tune in every week, so I don't mind doing the occasional repeat. :) Actually, perhaps I should show Camel Park again in a couple of weeks, without missing the stuff at the end...

The last couple of streams have definitely been shorter, since I found that going for 3+ hours invariably ends up feeling like a bit of a slog when I have other stuff to do. 2.5 hours is more comfortable!

I think it's fine the way it is and I've been enjoying the show for 4 or 5 times and have not yet come across a duplicate demo being streamed.

Cheers Mibri for doing this and bringing the scene together :)

What Hedging said. It Is A Tradition now!

And for the first time I almost missed it. What's even worst for me is that this time Mibri played Horizon demos - one of my all time requests.
Code is an Art - it really is, and I'm thankful Mibri played it. Now please take my another request. ALOS by HZ
This is an ultimate Hz demo. An amazing demo parts by Pernod and music from Boogaloo. And Kjer is out of this world as always.

If there are 3 things that made me scene person I am today it's
Horizon's Biltandborste, Bonzai's CockCrusher and BML Dutch Breeze
in particular order

@Mibri
I really hope you keep doing this show even the pandemic situation is over.

Oh and one more thing:
Regarding your X plans...
Before X2021 there's Moonshine Dragons 2021 in Poland ;)

All the best and pls do keep doing this!

@Count 0
Yeah I can't remember DB being played either - it should be.
at least the collection part was what started us all over the Europe to think we can be Heins too ;)

But TBH I can't remember CockCrusher being played either ;)
It should be, and it's not a Bonzai part of me speaking now ;)

Maybe this is the time to introduce the concept of part selectors (which this demo happens to sport), and which is probably not a unique thing amongst the retro subscenes, but not a common thing at all in some others. Similarly hidden parts, which might deserve a show all on their own. =)

I have to admit I'm a regular hidden attender of the show. Mibri, let me tell you it's awesome, every f**king tuesday now full of demo love and the right people gathering on your twitch channel!

Thanks a lot for doing this!

Maybe I'm biased but the choice of the day is in a really good tradition for me - being one (if not THE) founder of the Dienstagstreff (tuesday's meet-up) ;) Ok, it was (is??) something different, yet still c64-focused, but it's funny the same day happens to be suitable for c64-stuff and such!

Keep it up! Will have to get a twitch account or whatever is needed to join the chat one day.

@C0, Carrion & all Dutch Breeze-lovers: I faintly remember Mibri said he wants to avoid any trouble with Twitch so Demos with "certain contents" won't get played.

@Mibri: think this over, pretty please;)

Krill: Aha! Good idea - OK, I will play the end of Camel Park next week, using the part selector, then my conscience can rest. :D

Carrion: Thanks a lot for the kind words and for the request; I'll play A Load of Old Shit next week. I do hope to continue the show after the lockdown situation is fully over, though it may have to move to Monday nights fortnightly rather than Tuesday nights weekly! I'll give everyone plenty of notice if the schedule changes. Basically I'll keep going as long as I'm able to, and as long as it's fun. :)

About Dutch Breeze: I have thought about it again, and... well, there's no way I'm playing it, sorry. Showing demos with quasi-pornographic parts (I'm not interested in debating lexical semantics here - I did my best!) would violate Twitch's 'Community Guidelines', which could conceivably get me suspended, and to be honest I don't think the guidelines are unreasonable. I don't particularly want to spell out my personal view on the material in question here, but I have to remember that there are people out there - including potential new viewers - who would rather not see it, which is totally fair enough, and they should have the right to not have it placed in front of them without them expecting it. And yes, I know I've shown a few demos with a little bit of pixeled boob on them before, but that's not quite on the same level. :)
