NEW vote-algo on present vote-data L@@K ;-)
Ok, another one.
To keep it short, I drop my former idea of top-lists (far too few prospective votes for a new system).
Instead I put forward a VERY simple procedure to gain new rankings with already existing vote-data.
Per scener/category simply SUM up all votes >= 8.
Sort ranking by total sum.
done.
Tested with data on graphicians provided by veto.
Idea: votes never reflect skill but popularity anyway (which should be, but isnt directly correlated).
This favours popular sceners which got many positive votes.
Its closer to the 'I like this'-approach.
The key of this idea is NOT to use any average or percentage values. Just count how many people liked it.
The results for pixel-people would be:
Mermaid
Mirage
Jailbird
Sander
Hein
Electric
Joe
TCH
Leon
Valsary
Ptoing
Archmage
Veto
I find that very suiting.
This wont undo the bitter neglect of old school people but it is the best (IMHO) that can be done with present data.
Right now a release that few people like alot (i.e. 5x vote 10) will outrank a release with 70x vote 9.
Thanks.
Please someone test this with the other categories?
Cheers,
enthusi
PS: I know we have too few votes to give a shit about them anyway but I'd like to see this one going...
PPS: the discrepancy is even more obvious among the top coders! Continuity is not taken into account. Some of the all-time-memorable coders with > 20 votes are not in the top 100 even...
