CSDb moved to a new server
Hi all.
This is just to inform you all that CSDb has been moved to a new (and better?) server just now.
Even though the transfer has been tested on beforehand, there are surely some mishaps, and if/when you find such, please report them here. :)
Thanks.

Not good. Now checking out csdb doesn't take as long as it used to be ;( It's too responsive and I'd like to have the slow front page load and the timeouts back. Also what happened to the certificate warnings?
Anyway, thanks! ;) |

I can understand on the reports in this thread, that the main problem after the move is the lack of time to think about what you just clicked on in CSDb before getting the next page up in your face! :O
I'll see if I can do something about that terrible problem soon!!

Sooo... In accordance with GDPR our avatars have vanished but I didn't expect we cannot add them ourselves anymore :( I am not afraid to show my pixelled mugshot and give clear consent :P |

It's sad, but as pictures counts as personal information, the easy way was to wipe them. Maybe Perff can add some code later on to be able to add pictures on your own entry. |

Yes, that was the idea that you can add some of this to your account, and that this will be shown on your associated scener profile. |

@avatars that whole legislation's so bloody stupid imho, might keep some parasite lawyers busy but won't really hit antisocial media giants. for sure it goes on underground or private sites admins nerves a lot, but will not make any data any safer
PS: could it be it was faster yesterday and getting slower due to Eastern Europe copy-bots having adjusted? ;)
Still, great improvement |

The termsandconditions.php page states:
Quote:3. How we share your information.
None of your information will ever be shared with any third party, except your login name, which will be visible next to any information you enter into CSDb. while the cookies.php states:
Quote:In regards to advertisement information about IP address can be shared with third party, in this case 'Google AdSense', unless you are using an Ad Blocker in your browser.
By using this site you accept the use of cookies and the sharing of information to third parties! These two statements seem to contradict each other since an IP-address is considered personal identifiable information for many years already.
Also, is it possible to add a link to e.g. the bottom of the page (next to disclaimer) or perhaps in the 'help' section to the privacy statement/termsandconditions.php? This way people who are logged in can still find the link. At this moment I can only find this link when I am not logged in and click 'create an account'. |

But that's just the anchor's text, the actual href is like 'download.php?id=something'. However, a bit ugly and should perhaps always be https.
Btw, I know this issue has been up before but Chrome won't let me download fex

Back from a busy weekend.
Will try to get around to all your questions:
- About download links still being http and not https, the actual link is https if you do a mouse over. (Not on the edit page however - see reason below)
The links shown are the ones entered in the database, and as they could be external links they are shown as they was entered.
Could do a search-replace throughout the DB and match on CSDb urls only, but I guess thats not a priority now, as all http requests to CSDb will now automatically be redirected to https.
- I'll go through the T&C text as sugested bu Mr Ammo. Thanks.
- The new server is a virtual of some kind. (Am a bit sceptic, but thats what everyone does now, right? :) )
CPU behind is 2x2.4GHz Hexa-Core E5-2620v3 Xeon, and enough SSD & RAM.
As you might know it's hosted by a company I used to work for, so have no direct influence on the hardware directly, but good service and fair pricing. :)
- About what Chrome will allow users to download, I'm not sure what I can do about it!? (That particular link dosn't work in my Chrome either) |

Yes, I know.
Well, the thing is that if you are using CSDb as a user with a user account no ads will be on CSDb whatsoever, so in this case nothing is sent anywhere.
But I'll do something about the text. :)
Quoting Mr AmmoAlso, is it possible to add a link to e.g. the bottom of the page (next to disclaimer) or perhaps in the 'help' section to the privacy statement/termsandconditions.php? Yes. I also thought about this, but just never got around to it.. :/
Edit:
Have changed the text a bit about the ads, and put the T&C in the bottom. :) (Only if you are logged in as they do not concern 'guests'). |

Did a search in the releases: fred's
found: 102 release matches
If I click 'Show all 102 matching releases' at the bottom, the link goes to:
https://csdb.dk/search/?seinsel=releases&search=fred''s&all=1
(and the text in the search box turns to: fred''s)
which is wrong. The link should be:
https://csdb.dk/search/?seinsel=releases&search=fred's&all=1 |

I think the server move has mucked up the RSS feeds. Latest Forum Posts appear out of order, possibly due to invalid datestamps in the pubDate fields: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7tr3fxsbzauht9s/Sk%C3%A4rmklipp%20201.. (screenshot taken at 9:09 +0200, so the pubDate indicated is in the future). |

Not sure if it's intentional, but locked records still show the e-mail address(es) of the person(s) who can change the record.
e.g. https://csdb.dk/release/edit.php?id=164858&x=20&y=7 |

Since a week it seems that the new server is hard to access and real slow or is unavailable quite often. Is this due to the load? Perhaps the RSS feeds should be limited or put on another server so that the normal website is always available. |

I have been notified of these random breakdowns, and also observed a few myself.
They usually go away soon after, and for now I havn't found the reason.
The server itself seems fine, and there is aparently no extra load of any kind.
Got a lot of stuff right now, but hope to get around to it soon.
In the meantime it would be very helpfull if you can note the times you see the problems.
When it begins and when it works again, and let me know. :)
Thanks
EDIT:
Just now when writing this I'm experiencing the problems you mention with very slow load times and/or crash.
I can say that it's not the code itself (PHP) that is slow, as the pages are generated <<1sec, and the CPU is not a problem either.
I'm in contact with the hosting company to find the problem.. |

Easy, just visit sometime early in the morning like 7 or around and you can still enjoy 40 second response times and HTTP 500 errors. |
